Palm Gardens Senior Living was older. I did not care for the dementia area having the doors locked. It's fully staffed but they still have them locked and then the people that I saw in the rooms were sad, but that goes from not getting company. Not their fault. I only saw one common area. I don't know if they called it a lounge or living room or whatever, but there were a few of them dozing in their recliners and three people were putting a puzzle together. I've worked in convalescent hospitals before, and you see the kind of behavior that they have when they're just not getting stimulated enough. The facility was darker, but that's because of the time that it was built.

Palm Gardens Senior Living has all the facilities that we need for my mom's care. Just from the tours, the facility seems very secure, and that is important. Everybody was friendly. The room is private. It has a nice large bathroom. I liked that it was clean. I particularly like the outdoor patio area. They have very attractive grounds and I know they have plans of putting a garden out there, and I like that. They offer transportation to the doctors and the caregiver will stay there with my mom at the doctor's; I like that. They'll give her physical therapy there at the facility, and I like that, too.

I toured Palm Gardens Senior Living. The staff who toured me was very nice. The place was wonderful. I first went through the assisted living side. The bedrooms that I saw had bathrooms. And then we walked through the memory care area. I was very impressed with it. The staff was there watching the residents. The bedrooms there also had private bathrooms. Some of the windows looked through the outside areas, so it didn't feel trapped. They had quite a list of activities on the assisted living side. On the memory care side, they also had a chart of activities but most of the residents there just sat silently in their wheelchairs. But overall, it was a very nice facility.

I like their food, and it's fresh. They have bingo, bowling, and little get-togethers like ice cream socials. They have quite a bit of activity for the people to do. They will bring my lunch to me. They don't give me a shower, but they take my towels, plates, and other stuff. They are very good workers, so they have very good help here. They decorate the place for the holidays. They take you to appointments if you have to go.

Palm Gardens Senior Living seems very friendly and clean. My mom seems to think that she's going to like it, so we're excited. She's going into a private room that has its own private bathroom, so she doesn't have to share it. It's also at the end of the hall and she has a small patio, which she's very happy about. Her room was just painted, so that's nice. The staff are very courteous and friendly. My mom knows the parents and the grandparents of a lot of the staff, which makes it nice. The grounds are well-kept, too. The meals are all home-cooked and made by hand. When she moves in, we were invited to have lunch with them for free, but after that, it'll be a $5 cost for family members to have dinner with them. They have a TV room with a couch, so you can visit with your family there and you're not all cramped up in a room. Then there was an activities room. The dining room was big and looked like a cafeteria that has individual tables where four or five people could sit. That way she'll have company, which is a big thing for us.

Palm Gardens was a nightmare. I wouldn’t trust even my little puppy there, let alone my family member. It felt very chaotic. There was another couple of people there to tour, and the person giving them their tour ran back behind the reception desk and grabbed a folder. She was not dressed appropriately by any means. It was obviously an older place, and it just felt very drab. As soon as I walked in the front door I felt uncomfortable. We went ahead and did the tour, but it was a no for us.
