Pacifica Senior Living Santa Barbara: Person-Centered Memory Care
Pacifica Senior Living Santa Barbara takes a unique approach with its Legacies Memory Care Program: residents here aren’t expected to fit into the community; the community conforms to the resident. This senior-focused attitude permeates everything, from the staff’s interactions with residents and thoughtfully designed environments to the events calendar and even the food customized to meet each senior’s needs. The home-like environment also promotes a sense of calm with sunny courtyards, a large living room, and a family-style dining room.
Life-enriching opportunities are plentiful, with residents taking fitness classes, engaging in Wii bowling tournaments, testing their pipes with group sing-alongs, and gathering for movie nights. The Santa Barbara area also offers a wealth of chances to appreciate nature and culture, including the Old Mission Santa Barbara, the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, picturesque Pacific beaches, quaint downtown shops, and fine dining.
Before moving in, residents and their family members meet with the Memory Care Director to tailor a plan of care that nurtures the mind, empowers the body, and enriches the spirit. These plans might include pet therapy, art classes, scenic drives, doctor visits and assistance with daily tasks like bathing, continence, grooming, eating, and socializing.

I have a very dear loved one at this facility, 2 years or so ago the facility was going through a bit of changes, but things were being done, taken care of and I felt as if my family member was in great care, of course no place is perfect but at first, it seemed pretty darn close. I would love to say that things have been great in general since then, but I just can’t. This facility has so much potential, but what needs to be taken care of, most importantly the residents, are sometimes overlooked, and the word sometimes is generous. I have to say the there are a handful of care takers that go above and beyond, but unfortunately when they’re not there, and you have a more lackadaisical crew (one their phones, nowhere to be found) you may find yourself in a bit of a pickle for sure. Again, the place has so much potential. But I think the staff needs to be more kind, especially to the family members coming to visit. I have been ignored mid sentence, I have been ignored entirely, I say hi to no avail. This place doesn’t feel like a home for my family member and it certainly doesn’t seem like I’m welcome when I come to see them. It’s already such a hard transition for them and for the family and friends. A little kindness goes a long way, and there are the a few who take pride in and genuinely care for people and their jobs, that go above and beyond, and I owe everything to them. That being said, the great ones can’t be there 24/7 very unfortunately. I hope this facility can make a turn around because it can. It just needs to choose to :) No one should pay ANY amount of money to worry, be stressed, lose sleep, and wonder what the HELL is going on. Do better.
Read moreMy loved one passed away last month, and her ring which was an heirloom went missing from her finger. Her teeth were never brushed, and I was sad to see her when the care was mediocre at best. The staff seamed to be on their phones a lot and not paying much attention.
I toured this community and it was great. The staff was friendly and cleanliness was good. Just too far from home for us.
Thank you for keeping my sister and I connected. I appreciate the video chats and love that you make it available for her. Even though I am out of state, I feel very connected to her, thanks to staff.
So grateful to all! You helped my family when we were going through difficult times. My loved one is stable and happy in the community. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
This community feels like home. We are Welcome and my Uncle is very calm and happy here. We love how the staff are so attentive. This is a great place for people with dementia.
