I am the conservator for my neighbor who was a resident in the home’s memory care unit for 2.5 years; unfortunately she recently passed on New Year’s Eve 2023. The memory care’s staff led by Hola was fantastic and very flexible and made appropriate adjustments to address my neighbor’s gradually declining condition. Prior to the home’s reorganization in mid 2023, I attribute the successful management of the memory care to Rowena, the facility’s RSD Director. She was my rock who provided regular updates and was very instrumental in my neighbor’s care. Most importantly, she was just fantastic to work with and very respectful especially in her style of communication. She listened, provided suggestions and at times, we even found middle ground to issues being addressed by either of us. The facility lost 2 stars because I strongly believe the “ tone and atmosphere” of the home starts with the leadership especially from the Executive Director (ED) overseeing the facility. Over the past 2.5 years, we’ve seen no less than FIVE changes in ED’s with differing priorities. Before selecting Atria Burlingame which was sold 6 months later to Pacifica, my wife and I looked at a dozen facilities but liked this home because of the home’s happy and cheerful environment. The staff would always greet everyone including its residents and visitors with a smile and cheerful greeting. This happy environment was reinforced by the many celebrations. For example, on holidays such as Halloween, or just plain Hawaiian day, the staff is dressed for the occasion and appropriate food was served for the celebration, music was usually piped throughout the facility and pricing was unbelievably competitive. After my visits, I left with a feeling the staff, visitors and most importantly its residents were living in a very happy environment. After the sale to Pacifica, all of this disappeared; the staff was no longer greeting you with cheerful smiles, music was no longer audible and the food quality had a noticeable decline. Thankfully, the level of care remained unchanged but there was a noticeable change in the home’s overall atmosphere. The current ED is all business. Rules, regulations and procedures are strictly followed and there is no room for negotiations. While an open door policy is promoted, I minimized our interactions with the ED because the outcome is usually less than desirable. After another 10% increase was announced for 2024, we were planning to relocate to a competing facility. However, we deferred this decision thanks to the care and interaction we received from Rowena and her memory care unit.

What a great experience in a stressful time. Needed to arrange to move a family member to assisted living. We toured with Ruth, on a Saturday and enjoyed everything, especially the scones. From there the next week it was a Yes, and we moved in a week later. In following up with my family member, the calm in the voice and happiness is priceless. The stress is gone, and I look forward to a great relationship with all the staff. They made my family member feel welcome from the moment we walked in. I''ve seen other facilities in the area and appreciate all that they have done for us.

Pacifica Senior Living Burlingame is a great place and my mom likes it a lot. She has a large 2-room apartment. She has 3 meals a day. There's a courtyard in the front, which is a very nice sunny patio area with nice chairs that overlooks the park. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I've eaten there and it's good. My mom likes it. Every day, there are activities all day. So, my mom has her breakfast. She then goes to exercise class. After exercise, there might be a game, then she'll have lunch. Then there might be another game. And then, there's a movie in the afternoon. The best thing about it is that it's the most affordable one that I've seen. I was expecting it to be a lot lower quality because of the price, but I was surprised at how nice it is for what you pay. They clean her apartment once a week, and they change her linens. It is also located in a very nice area, right near the nice downtown.

Pacifica Senior Living Burlingame is a multistory building. They had a lovely dining room. The rooms I saw were beautiful. I saw places where people could socialize. I liked the location. It's across from the Burlingame Community Center. The staff during the tour was wonderful, really informative, very knowledgeable, trying to find out what our needs were, and very transparent. I was impressed with the place. They have a gym. It was near a hospital and it had access to downtown. It's very clean.

We like Pacifica Senior Living Burlingame for my aunt. I like the structured activities. They offer things and encourage the seniors to do them. They come out of their room every day. She enjoyed the variety and food choices. The staff members we met with were great. They sat down, answered all our questions, went through the handbook, and explained everything that we would need. I feel like it was not quite the best fit for my aunt, but it was a great facility. The people were nice, and the staff was very supportive and attentive. They do a lot of checks on the clients, but also let them have independence as best as possible. They would help with housekeeping. Overall, it's a great place. They allowed us to come and have a meal complimentary. We sat in the eating area, and we got to experience ordering your food from the menu and having it brought to you. It's meant to be more bland and a little healthier. For an elderly care home, I think it's perfect. They have a salon, a courtyard, a library, and a dining area. They have coffee and tea available most of the day.
