The caregivers at Overland Court Memory Care were fine if you were there to oversee that medications are given correctly. The LPN in charge really didn't care about the residents and was indifferent to whether or not the residents received quality care. They would not be my first choice after having experienced their services because of the LPN in charge. We only picked this community because our first choice refused to take my Dad the day before we were supposed to move in. Overland Court was willing to take him at the last minute. Once there, it would have been too disruptive to him to move to another unit.

My dad moved into Overland Court in a very unique situation. He was on Hospice care and not expected to live more than one week. The staff were very friendly and helpful, although we felt that not all the staff were equipped to handle his care. It was Christmas week and they were short-staffed, so I think that's why not all the staff were made aware of how to handle my dad's condition. Also, there seemed to be a lapse in the system when it came to medication. When Hospice visited my dad and would change his meds, it seemed that the nursing staff at Overland wouldn't know. They said the new orders hadn't yet been updated on the computer system, and I often had to put the hospice staff on the phone with the nursing staff because the medication order wasn't showing yet in the computer. I'm not sure Overland is the correct place for a dying man on Hospice, but we really appreciated being able to live in his room for 5 days. We had one of their largest rooms, and we brought in air mattresses so we could be near him and advocate for him the entire time. The staff brought us meals, and cared for him as best they could, turning him and changing his diaper and the bed linens when necessary. The staff were caring, and we felt their empathy for us.

My father is now at Overland Court Senior Living. The staff members are super friendly. They're open about things and very encouraging. They had one studio available, and it was bigger than the ones that I saw in the other place. It's a good setup. It overlooks a private courtyard which is very nice. I like that there are no upstairs or downstairs because I'm worried about that with my father's wheelchair. The common dining area was set up in a restaurant-style. It is very open and very friendly. They have different activities that I haven't seen. The day my father moved in, they had 1950s food and decorations out, and they had a silent auction going on. It seems like they do a lot of activities in the dining room. It always has people there. It's very homey and very friendly. Also, my father likes the food better there than in the last place. They have a lot of options for activities. They will go on shopping trips, and they will take scenic type of drives. They have karaoke and they have movie nights. For amenities, they have a beauty/barbershop. They have a staff who does their laundry once a week. They have a bus that takes their residents to their medical appointments two days a week. They consider themselves open 24 hours. That way, family members can come in when it's more convenient for them, and that's always nice, too. They also have several courtyard areas, a garden area, and an indoor herb garden, which is kind of cool.
