As an employee and an R.N. with extensive 42 years in floor Nurse,Management and Psychiatric Nursing, I see this as a waistful distruction of an excellent facility. I seen Political pushes to close it for a longe time. I have evaluated numerous Nusing Home facilities and this was a great historical facility,no matter the accidents and propaganda, was a very excellent care center. One that I would want to be able to go to myself, if ever the occasion warranted. Massisive work was done on this center. The dementia facility was excellent and more beautiful than anyone I have seen. All I can say is this movement and cost was not Necessary and a waistful use of Tax payer money. When you investigate the situation deeply ,you need to follow the Money!!!! If it is so bad ,why does it have 4.5 rating. Staffing was only a problem because of all the statements of closing it and then pushing the Physicians that live on campus to pay large amounts for houses that had previously received as compensatioons package, for being available 24 hrs a day.. The last lady governor, closed one V.A. facility and her brother bought it.I have seen very few facilities more tranquil for Veterans than Talihina V.A....

I enjoy seeing ground kept so beautifully! In a country that honours its veterans its refreshing to know there are places like this for those who deserve our utmost respect for these fellow citizens to enjoy!!
