New Haven Assisted Living and Memory Care-Schertz was good and they could do double occupancy, which was nice. They had a movie night and they showed us the Sunday school service Bible study. They had an outside patio with a garden that everybody could come in, which was kind of nice. The rates were kind of high and it was small. It wasn't really big. There weren't a whole lot of people, but it was a nice facility. When we were there, the chef was preparing the meals. They had this big open area that had a big dining room, and he had the prep room, which was open. You can watch him cook there and there's a little bar around it. Kind of like a diner.

I toured New Haven Assisted Living and Memory Care-Schertz. It was good. The staff were all very nice. They knew what they were talking about. They were good. The rooms were kind of bleak though. They were small. The common area was nice. The grounds were OK, but nothing spectacular. I really didn't go out and look at the grounds, I just kind of looked through the window. They had a TV room, and that was the main thing about this place.

I thought that New Haven Assisted Living and Memory Care - Schertz will be the best fit for my father. It's the most convenient location for us. I didn't have any negative things to say about the place. It's a smaller facility, and I like the fact that they have 24-hour staffing for any medical issues. It seems to be very organized as far as working on personal assistance for the residents, that they would have a timeframe and a calendar to go through. The employees were very helpful, if I had any questions after work hours, I was told that they would be available to answer any questions that popped up. It was very clean and there wasn't a lot of clutter. It was wide open for people that had different medical devices to get through them like walkers, or wheelchairs. Everything was laid out pretty well, even the rooms were easy to access. They had a person that comes in that does the salon, they offered activities and they have a calendar like they do exercise.

After covid 2020 our family member was moved from New Haven assisted living to memory care. In 2 years we have happened upon the staff asleep in the great room not answering the door, my family member in soiled bedding and garments when we arrive unexpectedly, our family member lying in vomit on his bed, no viable accommodation for his diet due to Parkinsons. Multiple bouts of illness to include bladder infections and bowel blockages and trips to the ER after falling out of bed or in the shower. After 3 level of care increases and 2 rent increases we have had to bring him home because the cost has exhausted all finances. When we moved out the worker said it was okay to leave a chair and dresser in his room and they would remove the heavy items. Instead they have continued to charge rent because the items were in the room. Now they are going to charge us for dumpster disposal after taking the items out. Beware of this organization. On several occasions they drafted my family member twice for rent. Make sure you check on your family member often. The administrators are wonderful until you stop paying the high rent. And they do treat male residents with less favor than females. The resident ratio shows it. Best wishes on your options to place your loved one. This facility was great until they switched management companies. I am not a person to write negative reviews or reviews at all, but I feel the public should beware of the issues in this senior care facility.
