5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is a preliminary review. I''ll revise (edit) it later if need be. But at the moment, my friend, whom I''m a caregiver for, loves the place. We talk everyday, often twice a day, and he said he is so well taken care of. The food is good. The staff is super kind and compassionate. It almost could be described as heaven for him. I''m reading the other reviews, and I''m baffled to be honest. I''m leaving this review as a big THANK YOU to the facility. You all are taking very good care of my friend Ronald L. who moved from Alabama to that home. All his fears and anxieties are calm now. He loves it there, and I''m very impressed myself. I''ll be moving from Alabama to that area in the next month or two. I can''t wait to see him again and meet the staff. Thank you all so very much. Kevin S. ❤️🙂

This is to all the peeps that wanna complain about their loved ones not going to the doctors right away, or their bed lowered where they can’t get out of bed. Here are a few words or phrases you should know: Protocol and Fall Prevention. If you have ever worked anything medical, especially a nursing home, you would understand that there is protocol for things like sending someone to the doctor. Like, they have to first call the doctor to get an order to send to the hospital or if they should stay. After that, they call the POA (Power of Attorney, for those that don’t know) for consent to send them out to the hospital. Being realistic, not everyone would answer their phones at 2am. Now for the next topic, fall prevention! If your loved one’s bed is low to the ground so they can’t get up, that is probably because they are known as a FALL RISK, aka, should not be standing/transferring/walking on their own, and probably tends to get out of bed without calling cause they could be confused. Being realistic here, since you are not paying for 1:1 care and there are all these other residents that also need care, would you rather your loved one have their bed low so they can’t get up on their own, or have them fall, break a bone, and be in tremendous pain? Yeah, I thought so. If you are still reading this, a lot of medical professionals are doing their best to take care of your loved ones, as well as many others. They work long hours, struggle to get breaks, and are probably exhausted. Honestly, if you had your loved one at home and had to take of them 24/7, do you think you would be able to do all the stuff you expect the social worker, cna’s, lpn/rn and dietary staff all does? I speak of personal experience of my grandmother living with my family before living at a nursing home. It is not easy work. I give Southern Nevada State Veterans Home 4/5 stars cause not everyone is perfect. I never had a loved one there, but my best friend’s grandfather lived there till the day he died. I heard there were bumps in the road, but I saw a video from him of the Flag Ceremony when they walked his grandfather out of the building when he passed away, and the hallway was filled with staff to send him off. That shows that these people truly care about their residents.

Do not send your loved ones here! Especially stay away from the social worker Nancy on Faulkner unit! She threw my Dad''s belongings against a wall and told him he couldn''t have those items there. She also illegally opened my father''s bank mail. Then she illegally stole my father''s social security check and had it diverted to the veterans home without his permission. After she had gone into my father''s room without his permission he found money missing from his drawer. Also the food is worse than pig slop. I would not send my we orst enemy to this veterans home!
