You can tell how much the team cares about the residents the minute you walk into the building and begin your tour.

I toured the Anthology of Mason. It was a nice, new, modern facility, with friendly staff, and the ratio of staff to residents was very reasonable, like six or 7 to 1. And just lots of activities, and interactions with the assisted living side. They took the time to understand our family needs and specific situation. And we spent at least a good half an hour just talking about my mom and the level of care before actually going on any tour. Every Friday there's like a big group activity for both sides. The theater room, the library, and the gym were always very nice. The outdoor garden area for the memory care folks to go outside was nice.

We moved our mom into Anthology right after they bought out The Sheridan. A friend had raved about the Sheridan. It has definitely gone down hill since. When mom was in assisted living it was OK but when she moved to memory care things were much worse. The big problem is that they use staffing agency people (temp employees) who work for a few days and are gone. They never get to know the residents and most make it clear that they don''t care about them either. They messed up mom''s medications, didn''t keep her clean, left her room filthy, etc. I even caught one of them yelling at my 87 year old mother. For the large fees they charge you expect excellent care but for the most part it''s not there. There are 2 in-house nurses there who are amazing and really care but they can''t be there 24/7. There have also been multiple outbreaks of COVID at this facility which mostly starts with the staff. The director sends emails out to family members reminding us to wear masks inside the facility but he doesn''t ensure that his staff wears them and every day I would see staff with their mask down. I''m sure he will answer this review with something that makes it sound like he cares. He would do better to put his energy into making sure this facility that cares for our loved ones is operated at the highest standards. Sadly that is not currently the case.

Last year The Sheridan was bought out by Anthology. Right away things started going down hill. The head nurse failed to get my mom's meds to the floor nurses & so my mom didn't get her medicine for several days until I discovered the situation. As mom's Alzheimer’s was getting worse and she started having anxiety and depression and instead of recommending medication they wanted to move her from assisted living to memory care. When she finally did need to move to memory care we discovered that the staff was mostly temp employees who really don't care about the residents and are often rude & harsh with them. I even caught one of them yelling at my 87 year-old mother! It got so bad that they weren't keeping my mom clean and several times I found her sitting in urine soaked clothing. I've now moved her to another facility that actually treats her like a human being.
Read moreMy loved one likes the activities, inclusing the arts, and crafts. It's really nice, and they have a nice family room. My loved one likes to go out to the garden. Overall, I love the way that the residents are protected. There is a sense of safety and security, which makes me feel comfortable.
Not as clean as we would’ve liked
