I toured the Maple Creek of Lakewood. I was pretty disappointed because it's a very old building. The apartment that he was offering me was a little tiny room, for the three thousand a month that I was paying in another place. It would be just big enough for a three-quarter bed, a TV, and maybe a microwave. I'd mention to him that, my husband, we want to be together. And he said, "Well, I can get him an apartment, put it side by side yours, and open a door between the two." It sounded okay until we saw how small the rooms were. The two of them side by side were no bigger than a one-bedroom apartment. I don't get it. That's pretty expensive. It has no refrigerator, no kitchen, and the bathroom was external to two bedrooms that were side by side. You had to go out to a door and into the bathroom. It was like an external restroom. It was more like for those who couldn't afford to do anything, it's like, here's a hole for you. That's what I felt when I looked at it. The one who toured us was the head salesman. He was also the owner, and he told me that he and his nurse were going to decide whether to let me be there. And that's when I found out that they said no. He bragged about how long he built the business and all this stuff. I felt kind of scared and uncomfortable there when he was talking. He said that we were too late for lunch and too early for dinner. We couldn't have everything, he never even offered us coffee. It was all stretched out and open so you can get around if you happen to be in a wheelchair or something. It looked old because it hadn't been taken care of or maintained. It just looked like a 1940s building.
