A couple good nurses but others are not so good
Excellent staff. They care and are more accommodating than any hospital in Lancaster County. Although short staffed, they were quick to respond.

If zero stars was an option, that would be my rating:( This experience was a 9 day nightmare until I could get my mom moved to a better facility. I chose Emerald because my father passed away in Luzerne county and I wanted my mother closer to me. I knew nothing about Emerald/Elizabeth Manor Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center but it was only minutes from my home and when I spoke to the intake individual on the phone it sounded comparable to the nursing home my father was in for 3 years, before passing. In less than 24 hours I could see I was wrong. Friday 4:00 pm- dropped my mother off. Saturday 1:00 pm- At the 1st visit the nurse pulls me aside (she was an angel and I will be for ever grateful to her) to tell me that my mom is struggling emotionally and she didn''t belong there. She shared that my mother was too independent to be in Rehab. I could tell she was nervous about telling me that my mother was receiving a level of care that was unnecessary and showing signs of depression (had not yet eaten, crying incessantly. etc.). I could see the concern in her face. I began to look for another placement. Sunday 1:30 pm- during my visit I could tell my mom was upset. She was congested from crying and when I asked about it the nurse said, "She cries day and night." Monday 1:30 pm- 3rd visit- I shared that I would be taking my mother out because I found another placement. Tuesday morning I was called by the social worker and told I was not allowed to visit my mother because she wasn''t vaccinated. When I expressed my concern and confusion they shared that they didn''t know I was in to see her three times and visits were over! I told them that I would be over to get my mother that afternoon if I couldn''t visit. She could no longer stay there. Tuesday afternoon the social worker called back and said "Never mind, we will let you visit after all! Very confused I agreed but still pursued another placement. Wednesday 1:30- at my visit the same nurse that talked to me on Saturday expressed concern for my mother''s mental health. Wednesday afternoon I called the social worker and asked for my mother''s discharge. The Executive Director and the social worker called me and put me on speaker phone to ask me why I was removing my mother without the "proper 3 weeks of OT rehab?" I told them that she was crying everyday and becoming more and more depressed. The ED''s response was this, "Sometimes, similar to children, elderly parents will show emotion around their loved ones because they know they have an audience." He added, "your mother is in need of rehabilitation 5 days a week and you are taking her out too soon." Sunday when I picked my mom up at the scheduled time of release, her health records were missing. The individual who was responsible for the records accused me of not submitting them. She was condescending but would not make eye contact with me. It was all very unprofessional. I had to leave without my mother''s health records. The icing on the cake was that after I had my mother settled in her new place I found out that the discharge paperwork I received from Emerald/Manor Care had someone else''s prescription and personal information!! My mother''s prescription for her blood pressure meds was NOT included. (I''m assuming it went to the man who''s prescription I had?) What a mess! I called Emerald/Manor Care and told them that I had someone else''s prescription. I was told I would be emailed my mom''s prescription and I never got it! At that point I was so exhausted with the lack of professionalism and HIPPA violation that I counted it as a loss and moved on. Look elsewhere for your loved one. One final note- when my mother was evaluated for OT at her new "home" they said she was too independent to qualify for the therapy! Interesting, to say the least!

This is not a good place to work. Some of the workers are lazy and rude. It was my 3rd day and I was asking for help and I got an attitude from 2 women for asking. I ended up waiting over an hour to get help to help the residents. So there isn''t good teamwork. My trainer the first day was complaining more then training me. The 2nd day they had me on the floor working alone. Communication between supervisors isn''t great too at the Elizabethtown facility. One person tells you one thing. The other supervisor something different and lastly Housekeeping is nonexistant. The place is dirty and doesn''t get cleaned daily. Visibly dirty in area''s. I would not have a loved one stay there. They''ll be waiting a whole shift to have a breif changed sometimes when shortstaffed. Do not work or bring your loved one here. Go elsewhere!!
