I liked Magnolia Brook on Siegen. I'm in a wheelchair, and I was impressed by the roominess of the elevators because in some of the elevators, it was like a tight squeeze. But Magnolia Brook's elevator was extremely roomy. I was impressed with the personnel and the activities that they have. The staff was very cordial and very kind. I was only interested in the one bedroom. You could have a one bedroom, or a one bedroom with a patio, or a studio apartment. Magnolia Brook had a one-bedroom that impressed me because it was larger than the one-bedroom that I had seen in the prior places I visited. The patio was nice, but I really couldn't get on the patio with a wheelchair. I saw the game area and at the time I was there, I thought they were playing bingo, and the cook had prepared me some crab cakes, and they were utterly delicious. They were very good. The staff is very cordial, helpful, and kind.

I couldn't be more pleased that I chose Magnolia Brook on Siegen. I checked out every facility in town before choosing this one. The staff is always sweet and helpful. And I feel, as does my husband, that they are close friends and relatives. They love to tease with him and it helps him maintain his sense of humor. I feel very comfortable and a sense of relief that I have this responsible staff helping my husband and loving him as well. The food can be a little bland (although I understand why). It would be nice if they had gumbos and jambalayas, which he loves! The cost for the facility is reasonable, however, I'm sorry it had to go up a little bit because a lot of the caretakers are on a fixed income. But overall I'm very pleased with my choice and highly recommend it to other families!
Read moreThe turnover is sometimes high, people come and go a lot so it is hard to get to know the every day staff. That has been our only complaint. Other than that it has been a good experience and my mom is enjoying her time here. I would for sure recommend Magnolia Brook on Siegen to other families.
It is well laid out for the residents, activities are nice, it's pretty new and clean and everyone on the staff is very friendly. The food is OK but not great
Magnolia Brook on Siegen was a very nice facility, but they didn't have any availability. Also, I really thought the price was kind of high for what they offered - it was the highest of all the places we looked at.

The people at Magnolia Brook on Siegen met us at the front door and gave us a tour through the whole place. We went right after lunch, so we were able to speak and say hello to several residents. It's a beautiful facility. It's very comfortable and very welcoming. There is glass everywhere and the buildings surround a central courtyard. So, even though they're on a very busy street, it's quiet. The thing that I liked about the place the very best is that everything is at zero threshold. My father, who has very low mobility, can go anywhere he pleases. If you decide to go outside and you just can't quite walk all the way from your apartment to one of the doors that goes outside, there are little seating areas where you can just sit down and rest, and then people tend to come up and say hello. They've got game boards and all kinds of things set up like little reading nooks. It's just cozy and very homey for being a large facility. It encourages independence. So, we really liked it. The apartments were lovely. The other thing we really liked was that they would allow my father to roll up straight to a dining table in his wheelchair. In a lot of places we have found that residents who are in a wheelchair are asked to transfer from their wheelchair to a dining chair at the eating table. This place doesn't have that rule, which is much easier on him. Then they have a private dining room set aside for residents to have a large meal, like for Mother's Day or Thanksgiving, with the extended family. They also have facilities available for families who come and visit to cook. There's a big social room so you can get together with your parents/families and bake Christmas cookies. It's really geared toward making the residents feel at home. The staff was lovely. They have a professional chef onsite and some of the ladies my mom met said the the food was wonderful.
