I had an in-person tour of Madison at Ocoee. I liked the very down-home and welcoming feeling. It seems like the menu is very varied. The dining area was very open and bright. The common spaces were very nice and open. There were a lot of places to just sit and talk. They looked modern.

Madison at Ocoee was excellent. One thing I liked was that several of the key employees have been there a long time. There were three that I saw yesterday that have been there for over nine years. The long-term employees help stability, and the one in charge of memory care, Kelly, is excellent. And Jennifer took all the time in the world with us. In memory care, you furnish your own room with your own furniture so that you're familiar with it. But they have a big family room, living room, and activity room. There's lots of light in it, and they have lots of different activities. One thing I like is they've got an enclosed courtyard so the residents can go outside. The staff who toured us was very helpful. The tour was very complete. She told us all different things and answered any and all questions we may have. Memory care residents who are physically and mentally capable can come into independent living activities. They go in there all the time, so they're not confined to memory care. They also have a wraparound porch all around the front part of the building for residents and a nice courtyard for them that's not enclosed. They make sure that the memory care is all clean and well maintained. It's bright, airy, and cheerful.

[name removed] the Sales Director there was great and did a wonderful job of showcasing the facility.

They didn't take in the preferences of my mother nor did they follow anything that I filled out regarding my mom in the beginning. Example my mom's an early morning person. She never gets up at six or seven in the morning and they were waking her up at six and seven in the morning. It's always clean. Also, 90% of the staff is extremely friendly and will introduce themselves to the family members. A lot of the part staff are the most helpful and kind to my mother, that is in her words. I had issues with one of the doctors that came to the facility and I just changed her doctor. They attempt, give the resident choice which is nice. Communication can always improve at all levels. The administration team makes an effort to have the best offerings. The nurses have been amazing and caring, some of assistant nurses need to work on being a little kinder, nicer or not as direct in their tone and communication. On-site doctor is a gamble, one doctor doesn't communicate with anyone from the residents family to the nursing team. Not sure about the other one yet. The food looks great, but it's not always my moms type of food to eat. Activities are good, there is always something happening. As for Value for Cost: there are different levels of care and it's subjective but everything can be reevaluated on the persons needs. I just wish there was more encouragement by the staff to encourage the residents to be social or where they eat. My mom likes to eat in her room, but it's an extra fee.
