This place was nothing like what the hospital stated it would be. My mother only required physical therapy help for her balance issues after being in the hospital for a week, my mother called me right away stating she wanted to come home. They tried to give her insulin shots when she isn’t a diabetic, she stated that the patients there looked like they were not well taken care of nor in a good mental state due to the way the treatments they are receiving. Very disappointing.

DO NOT LET YOUR LOVED ONES BE SENT HERE!! (Is that clear enough?) I had a friend who had to stay at this location recently. My friend went in ambulatory, but was immediately made to wear a diaper and not allowed out of bed. Nobody on staff would offer to help my friend go to the restroom to eliminate like a human being! (The exception being the PT/OT people who seemed to honestly care.) My friend developed a bed sore from continually having to lay in wet diapers and not being moved. My friend only was out of bed for the 1/2 to 3/4 hour of PT that was supposed to occur 5 days a week. During the stay, the facility went on lockdown due to a Covid exposure at which point visitors could not visit or check on their loved ones and PT was not allowed to take patients out of their room. So...no PT got done. Upon my friends exit from the facility, they were unable to walk. My friend stated the food was nearly always cold and when you pushed your call button for help cleaning/moving/anything, a CNA would show up, offer to "come right back" and finally return an hour or two later. UNACCEPTABLE. I saw long term residents with bandaging that looked like it had been applied in a military field hospital it was so roughshod and dirty. ( I have worked in emergency services so I know of what I speak) This place has a sign over the building "The Land of Healthful Living" and their website states they are the premier facility in the High Desert with "all-around care... unrivaled in the industry". Both of these statements could not be further from the truth. If you ask local medical care personnel about Knolls West, and I have asked a few, they will say they do not want their patients here and encourage families to do all they can to expedite getting them out. LOCAL DOCTORS EVEN DETEST THIS PLACE!! It will be my mission to get the State involved in this place. No human being deserves to be treated so poorly.

If I can give 0 stars for what happened to my 83 year old Dad I would. Staff advised at St. Mary''s that he would be moved to the skilled nursing facility- Knolls West. What they did not tell my family was: 1. He would be in a Covid unit (despite testing negative twice and being asymptomatic) 2. That he would be ISOLATED. 3. There would be NO VISITATION. My 82-year old Mom was at his bedside every day during visiting hours at the hospital. NO ONE told us that this would be the policy going to the skilled nursing facility. Dad''s dementia worsened whenever he was isolated. After Dad was transported to the nursing facility, mom received a call from the staff advising that Dad was leaving the building. They asked if he had an altered mental state. (WHY WAS THAT INFORMATION NOT PASSED TO THEM FROM SAINT MARY''S, SINCE HE HAD SOMEONE AT HIS BEDSIDE EVERY DAY). The staff person also stated "WE DO NOT HAVE THE STAFF TO KEEP HIM SAFE". There is a dark alley outside the door, and unfortunately, Dad had already walked out twice. When my 82 year old Mom questioned what they recommended, they could not give any advice, and when Mom stated that taking him home was against Dr''s orders that also fell on deaf ears. BOTTOM LINE: Mom took DAD home with NO SAFETY PLAN or medications, because she felt she had no choice and the facility stated they could not keep him safe.

He got a blood infection and his breathing was super shallow. When we spoke to the director, he said that he thought he came in like that. Shows how much they really pay attention to their patients. When we called and asked information on him, nobody told us anything and all we were told was “we’ll call you back”. Do not send family members there.

The Staff Specifically the so called head person Layla has lied at every opportunity about my father and his care , Anyone thinking of going there please choose somewhere else. We took my dad out after only 2 weeks because the care was so awful. The staff actually yelled at me for inquiring about his belongings. 1 star would be to much.
