I visited Holiday Jackson Oaks. They were nice, but they were just independent living there. You'd have to have another company come in and that would have been another expense. The staff was nice and very knowledgeable. Gina offered lunch, but we had just finished breakfast before we arrived there, so we kind of turned them down. The rooms were very spacious. They had a refrigerator and just a microwave. They were allowed to come and go as they pleased. The people were nice. A lot of them could get around on their own. The community is kind of quiet, but it's in Paducah, Kentucky, so there were restaurants close by. The dining area was nice and looked homey. I've seen a lady doing puzzles. They had areas where they watched movies and played cards. They had a pool table. I've seen a game room up on the second floor. They had a treadmill and bicycles that they could get on there and pedal.

I liked Holiday Jackson Oaks, and I would like to move there. It's very suitable for me. The rooms were nice. The one I looked at was a studio apartment, and it was just perfect for me. Upkeep was very good. Everything looked nice. The dining area was very nice. I didn't get a chance to try their food, but they have a chef there that prepares the food. Everything is homemade there. They have a lot of activities going on. When we were there, they had a group that played music for them. They go on outings and all kinds of stuff. The staff was extremely nice. I stayed there for about a couple of hours talking to her, and she was very patient and very helpful. It was a good experience.

As far as the facility and employees, I was very satisfied. It is a clean place and every employee I encountered for the short time my mother was there was kind and helpful. The only major problem was the billing, but it has ended up being a very major one so carefully check your billing statements. A monthly payment made for my mother was credited to the wrong resident and I have been trying to get that straightened out for 14 months. The facility acknowledged the error and notified me I would be getting a refund in November, 2021. I have contacted this facility and the corporate office numerous times by phone and message since then to see where the refund is, but with no success.

I was greeted right away as I walked into the door of Holiday Jackson Oaks by the lady that was in charge of transportation. And I thought she was the receptionist because she was sitting there doing paperwork right by the door. She took charge and then she introduced me to the other lady, who then introduced me to the manager, even though I did not have a set appointment. I had a set appointment, but I had to come early. So they were very adjustable, very accommodating. The manager, he walked us around and we saw three apartments of different shapes and sizes. We were in the dining room and we were told that there is in-house health care or home care on the premises, which I was very impressed by, that it is right there, and you can access it. The fees can be worked into your monthly bill. I was impressed with the fact that although they don't accommodate in-apartment appliances for a washer and dryer, they do have a washer and dryer room at each level, which is very convenient, because some people can't get in the elevator and take their clothes down to the basement, like my brother, because he has to be in a wheelchair most times. So I was really happy for that. They had small balconies you could actually step upon out of your apartment and get fresh air, or have a little table and a chair if you wanted to have coffee out there, if you were able to get out there. They also had huge walk-in closets. There are some repairs that need to be made to the outside of the building. But inside, it's gorgeous, clean, large, and well equipped. They said that guests could eat free for the first 30 days with the resident. But then thereafter it was a small fee, which I thought was very nice. It would help to orient the person to their new surroundings, if you could join them to eat there. I thought that was very nice. I particularly like the fact that they had people that would escort the residents to their table and make sure they were seated and they would help introduce them to other people, and that they planned some seating for new residents around residents. I think they might have liked the fact that they're personable.
Read moreThe staff giving the tour were super nice and did a good job. The facility to us felt more like a nursing home even though it was independent living. I think the residents needed more care than my loved one did.
My loved one really liked the food at this community. They do an excellent job with the meals and cleaning the rooms at this community with independent living they do everything that they said they would.
