Seniors regularly take trips to breathtaking places like the Baylands Nature Preserve, the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge and Byxbee Park, which offers wildlife viewing, gentle hiking trails and awe-inspiring art installations. On-site, there’s the Sunrise Live With Purpose program, which gives residents a wealth of physical and mental stimulation options, including exercise classes, karaoke nights, movies with popcorn, and chair volleyball.
Residents’ individualized service plans give them independence and control over their lives, with options to receive as little or as much care as they need to thrive. Highly trained staff is around 24/7 to help, housekeeping takes care of laundry and cleaning and social and educational programs for families keep residents emotionally connected.
Sunrise Signature Dining nourishes the body with three nutritious meals every day. Menus feature a wide variety of options, from local catches and exotic dishes to savory sides and mouth-watering desserts. Dining can be customized to fit residents’ tastes and nutritional needs, with pureed choices and no-sugar, low-fat and low-sodium diets on the menu.

The care managers get 5 stars, they are an amazing bunch of people who really care about the residents. They are overworked, understaffed and I assume underpaid but do just an exceptional job providing loving care to the residents. Sunrise itself gets 2 stars. They do not have a solution at Palo Alto if your loved one is not appropriate for Assisted Living but cognitively not a fit for the Memory Care (Reminiscence) floor. Some Sunrise location do have a Terrace club that is designed for residents who are not a fit for assisted living or for Reminiscence. Palo Alto does not. Do not send your loved one to a Sunrise if they fit this description.

Note that the five star reviews have zero details. Did they pay for them or do them theirselves? I had a relative live in this property and I wouldn''t put anyone you care about here. They are horrible. They change staff frequently. The management was repeatedly dishonest. The food was a shame, but when relatives would visit, they''d put together a show that the residents didn''t experience during normal times. This is a Corporate owned, profit-driven business, not a place for your family or friends. Consider The Commons (a locally owned business started after a family member needed a place), BridgePoint, The Vi, Channing or Webster House. Anywhere but here. Try to talk w/people who actually live in the place. ++++ Update: Since writing this review, the management claims to be reaching out to right any wrong. There''s no obvious way to reply to them, so I''m adding my response here. I assure you the management had ample opportunity while my person lived there to improve things, but they didn''t. They were devious and deceitful and are not to be trusted. They were in fact the source of many problems. This is a Corporate run facility that only cares about profits, can''t keep good staff long term and should likely be put into another business where compassion is not key. There are MANY good places to live out your life in grace and comfort. When we saw this place, we assumed it was one of those. I''ve been on the inside and can now assure you it is not.
