I toured Homestead of Olathe, and it wasn't a good fit ( location wise). The inside was also very dated; very 90's with the color mauve, lots of carpet, and a funny cleaning agent-like smell. The rooms weren't bad, but the bathrooms weren't very big. My loved one uses an electric wheelchair, and their hallways were kind of narrow so he wouldn't be able to get around easily. I was also a bit frustrated with Homestead because I set up a tour and they didn't have a room available, nor did they know when they'd have vacancy. Although they were nice, it kind of felt like they wasted my time.

One thing that really stuck out to us about Homestead of Olathe is after the first year of self pay they take Medicaid. It is a smaller place so residents are able to form closer relationships. I really liked the way they are set up, they have one building for independent living and assisted living...

One thing that really stuck out to us about Homestead of Olathe is after the first year of self pay they take Medicaid. It is a smaller place so residents are able to form closer relationships. I really liked the way they are set up, they have one building for independent living and assisted living and if they need extended Alzheimer's care, they have a separate building adjacent to the other building and it is set up exactly like the main facility so the residents are not confused or lost. I am very close with the administrative staff, they are super helpful and I feel like we are a team. I like that it is not a locked facility, it has a code entry which works great for the families. My mom is so happy here and says she has no complaints. If I had to go somewhere where I needed care, I would go here. I cannot say enough good about them, they are truly a Godsend.

My father-in-law loves this place. Gaining weight because the food is, in his words, awesome! Staff actually cares and has fun at what they do for the residents. Activities are engaging for him.
