Arrived for tour. Sonia was wonderful and accommodating. Completed tour and all questions answered. Staff was warm and friendly.

Face it, aging has no dignity and all we can do is choose the lesser of evils. Gulfport Care Center is doing a good job that is a really tough job to do. Fact is if you want them cared for to your personal standards, bring them home to your house and provide the care you think they deserve. I’m guessing not. Give these folks a break!

Please do not send anyone you care about to this facility. Upon looking at the website, listening to the recording on the phone and speaking to the intake personnel, you may be under the impression that is a rehabilitation center. It is a nursing home! A nursing home where my father was neglected for a month. He was not given aggressive treatment. He was put on a diaper and left to lay in his bed. When I visited him, my appointment fell through the cracks and they did not have him “ready”. He had not been shaven in weeks, smelled of BO, and they just combed his greasy hair to the side. He ended up leaving the facility 2 days early due to a UTI & dehydration. This is because the doctor at The “Care” changed the orders for fluids that my dad’s PCP ordered. I even addressed this situation with their administration, among a laundry list of other issue, and have yet to hear back from her. This was 2 months ago. I also reported this facility to the state. These are just a few scenarios that my father and my family encountered. I’m open to answer any questions from anyone.

After the Gulfport Care Center received a barrage of negative reviews, employees were instructed to makeup "positive" reviews to make the facility and the administrator look good. It is time for an honest review of what''s really going on at the Gulfport Care Center. Poor leadership exists from both Administrator Jack and Director of nursing Kristen who both have a hands OFF approach with issues involving employees and patients. That is until some major complaint is called to their attention by way of several lawsuits or a visit from the State Dept. of Health. It''s only at his time, they can no longer ignore, put on the backburner, or try to pretend that many problems don''t exist at the facility. Their misguided approach to management is by being dismissive, defensive, and attempting to instill fear by threatening employees jobs by bullying. This style of management has not worked and has essentially lead to a negative work environment with a super high turnover rate. This rotating door effects the patients due to the lack of continuity of care. Cna and nurse burnout is prevalent due to employee shortages from being forced to or strongly encouraged to work 16 hour shifts without administrative support. The Administrator, the DON, ADON, and employee schedulers are the sources of much of the drama at the Gulfport Care Center. They spend much of their time gossiping about the employees and patients. This time could be spent more wisely by talking to instead of talking about the employees. Cliques exist. If you''re not a part of the clique, prepare to be targeted. They have loss 100''s of good employees due to the unprofessionalism that persists. The department heads (MDS, admissions, physical therapy, nursing, and maintenance) do not work well together which results in a lot of "passing the buck" and misplaced blame. Just to offer some specifics: 1.No adequate training program exists for new hires. 2. No systems are in place to prevent the facility from constantly running out of basic supplies. 3. Maintenance and cleanliness are subpar. 4. Family members of patients are viewed as worrisome. 3. Patients often miss or are not scheduled for outside appointments. 4. Wound/skin treatments are done inconsistently. 5. IV medications are given inconsistently. 7. Dr orders are overlooked. 8. Baths and showers are inconsistently done. This is by no means a comprehensive list of all the issues that exist at the Gulfport Care Center, but these are FACTS. No amount of Jack''s aka JB''s fake reviews will erase or hide what''s really going on at the Gulfport Care Center.
