I would recommend this community. Being in this area it was very convenient to get to. The staff bent over backwards to make the community a homey experience for my loved one and the other residents.

Rhonda, on the Grace of Douglas Management Team, was able to coordinate a very last minute visit for me to see my Grandmother. She and her team, James, were able to explain the new COVID procedures on the phone and in person. James was very thorough and I appreciated his patience. Really wanted to say thank you (Rhonda and James) for keeping all of us safe, especially Grandma Dolly, during the new COVID-19 quarantine procedures, at her new home, the Grace of Douglas/Douglas Cove Health and Rehabilitation.

If you care about your loved ones UNDER NO circumstances should you put them in Grace of Douglas! I made that horrible mistake because they were just down the street from me and I could visit often. My mother ended up dying in Blodgett Hospital due to horrible neglect inflicted on her by Grace of Douglas staff and their lack of care! When she entered Blodgett she had bed sores and had aspirated at Grace. One Sunday night I went to visit my mother and she wasn''t in her room. I had asked the staff as her whereabouts they said they didn''t know. I searched the chapel and dining room etc and could not find my mother anywhere for 45 minutes, I became frantic and was ready to call the police, then finally found her parked down a back hallway with about 20 other clients in wheelchairs with the wheels locked, my mother told me that they were told they lining up to see the doctor. On a Sunday night, right!? I also had to have over 12 conversations with the head dietician because they wouldn''t adhere to her special diet needs for diverticulitis. Per her physician she was not allowed to have beans wasn''t supposed to have red meat and no fried foods. So after these conversations they still put on her tray by the door, not even close to her bed, while she''s facing the window with a pillow between her legs. A tray of forbidden foods. On her tray is a hamburger, french fries and baked beans. Do you really think that they will take any time to properly care for your loved ones? I never had one good experience there. Several times I found my mother sitting in her own feces and urine in her adult diaper, this is simply neglect. If you really love your family member don''t fall for their suites and special activities. The local community does not support this place. Nursing homes have health grades for reasons. If a nursing home has lots of space and room openings, this should be a red flag for you. Beware of this place!!! Most quality places have a wait list. Do your homework and find the right place and don''t just settle with Grace because they have the space now.
