If your loved one has dementia and can''t remember not to get out of bed or a chair without help, don''t bring them here. My mother has dementia and had a 5 day stay at hospital and became very weak. Decided to send her here to get her strength back. In 17 hours she had fell twice and broke her hip. Nothing was done after the first fall except put a bed alarm on bed. Her room was at very end of hall. Then put her back in room alone after therapy. This is when the fall that broke the hip happened. Did I get a call about the falls? No! Got a call from receptionist to ask if I wanted them to hold her bed until she was ready to come back. NO WAY! No call from administration or DON until I called and asked for DON. My mother is 86 years old. This will probably be the end for her. If not, the dementia will be worse. Thanks Friendship

I have been reluctant to place a parent into a rehab facility due to many of the things I have seen or heard over the years. I have to say, with Friendship Health South, it was a good experience. My father had to be placed in Rehab because of significant health issues, and have found the team to give exceptional treatment. The administrative, nursing, PT, OT, and Speech therapy kept the family informed, my father did well and did not complain at all. He was well taken care of and if I had to do it again, I will definitely make this my first choice. To add to this, I had to also place my mother in rehab for a few weeks and chose Frendship Health and Rehab South. She had a good experience, the team kept me updated, I had the privilege to meet her rehab staff and they broke everything down for me. My mother commented on how well she was doing and the staff were very helpful and attentive. She went in barely able to walk even with help and upon leaving was much stronger and adept to what her strengths and weaknesses are. Thanks to the team at FHRS for their dilligence and help.

Our family recently experienced significant life-changes with our parents. In the process of moving them into an assisted living facility in Roanoke, my mother suffered a significant stroke. We knew a skilled nursing facility would be necessary upon her discharge from the hospital. I asked the director at the assisting living facility, and Friendship South was highly recommended. Friendship South is no different than every other medical facility in our country right now in that they are facing critical nursing and staff shortages in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Even with these challenges, I have found each nurse, therapist, CNA, food service member, and even the janitor to be exemplary! We established with whom we should communicate our cares, concerns, and questions, and have done so on an almost daily basis. At no time has anyone been unprofessional. Rather, we have found a "family" of professionals at Friendship South who are clearly called to help individuals and their families during a difficult time. We simply could not have asked for a better facility to help our mother. We are grateful for the skill and care Mom received. And while we never hope to need their services again, you can bet we will always highly recommend them.
Read moreI was very reluctant to go into a re-hab facility. I was welcomed with open arms and care. I couldn''t have asked for better care from the staff. Wonderful people. The PT department was top notch with some awesome therapist. The food was pretty good too.
