I have been a cottage resident in Eskaton for almost 15 years. Over the years I have enjoyed the friendships and camaraderie of my neighborhood and other residents. Lately, my neighbors and I have been enjoying the meals at the Lodge. Thanks to Evan Lawrence, Culinary Coordinator, the meals have improved greatly. They are tasty, attractive and served by a friendly and a well organized serving staff. I have spoken to Evan...he is open to suggestions and circulates about the dining room involved in friendly conversations with the diners. There are many other advantages to living in Eskaton. Under the direction of Alicia Rist, many improvements have taken place. I know I speak for my neighbors when I write that we are all grateful to live in the wonderful environment that Eskaton offers. I toured Eskaton Village Grass Valley. I liked the little houses that you can buy into, and it was a very nice community. And I liked the fact that it was so near the junior college, so you could take classes and just walk to them. The houses were very nice. Like any place like that, they're not particularly appealing architecturally or anything, but they were very clean. I liked the fact that anything that you need, like the yard, the painting, and so forth, is all taken care of. It was very appealing. They have washers and dryers. One thing I thought was impressive about it was that they have like these things on stands, where if you wear a thing around your neck, if you fall, it somehow can tell, and it tells the front desk that something's happened. The person who took me around was a realtor, but I've talked to the staff and they're very, very friendly. I really liked the person that I talked to. I talked to them about my daughter's father-in-law living there, and she was very helpful. I looked at the swimming pool, which was really nice. The whole pool area was exceptional. It's like being in the country club almost. They have tables and chairs that you can sit in and you can bring food and drink and things like that. It's really quite first class, but it's also expensive.
