Elison Independent Living of Orchard Glen was very nice. They had a pond where they could walk around, and it was very nice. I think the price was high for what you're getting. I don't think you're getting any more services there than in other places, and the price was like $1000 more...

I don't think you're getting any more services there than in other places, and the price was like $1000 more a month without getting any additional service there. We tried the food. The food was good, but the price was too high for independent living. The apartment they showed my mother looked out on a parking lot. I'm sure they have very nice apartments that overlook the pond area and the courtyard there, but the one they showed my mother did not. It overlooked a parking lot. The place was very clean and very nice. The person who assisted me was nice, but he was kind of pushy in the end like offering discounts and everything like a sales pitch.

We like Elison Independent Living of Orchard Glen for my mother-in-law. The price is a little high for us, but we might end up going there. The whole place was very nice. My mother-in-law liked it there. That is our top choice. However, they have no transition if she needs more care. It was excellent though. The staff were very helpful. They stopped and talked to her. They were great. I thought everything that she needed was there. They have a salon, a courtyard, and places to walk, which are pretty. They have a lot of activities going on that she's interested in. They have trips, too.

Elison Independent Living of Orchard Glen was great. I was very impressed. The rooms were quite lovely as far as the maintenance and the cleanliness. I felt that they were small, but that's just my perception. I was looking more to moving into one of the larger cottages. The only negative part of the tour was that I was not able to see the inside of a cottage or even do a virtual tour with pictures, but the model apartment that they showed was quite nice. The chef had two jars for me, one was a jar of soup and one was a dessert and they had just made fresh cookies. They presented those to me when I walked in the door. I went back into the dining area and it smelled good. I was really impressed with the areas that they had for common rooms as far as the library. They have a little outside patio area with a pond that looked pretty, and probably looked even better in the summertime than in the winter. I was amazed at the number of activities that they scheduled every day. I also was impressed because they had a wall that honored their veterans and I'm a veteran. The staff during the tour was very welcoming and personable and a lot of people came up and talked to me as soon as I walked in the door. I was impressed with the cleanliness and it smelled good. It didn't smell like an old people's home. There was a lot of light through the windows and everything looked like it was well-maintained.

I liked the Elison Independent Living of Orchard Glen better than the other facility, but it was just too far out for my mother. They have lots of activities for their people. It was a very pleasant setting. They were encouraged to have a positive atmosphere. They had two-bedroom apartments, and the bonus for them was that they had bathtubs. They had a manmade lake, which was very pretty. The staff members were very enthusiastic.
