Regrettable choice. Response times are nothing close to the 15 minutes promised during the tour. Typically 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Rooms are not fully wheelchair functional. Medication management is not adequately safeguarded! Under staffed and no supervisor or manager at night and weekends. The food is not acceptable. Portions are tiny. Nothing is fresh. A hot dog bun is considered a hoagie. Breakfast meats are only offered 1 or 2 times a week. Laundry is done weekly but often they fail to change the sheets. Activities are often canceled. Exercise classes are held watching a video which just doesn’t work. Transport to appointments is very limited.

Mom was at Oaks at Snellville for respite care. They were very kind and very nice to my mom. They took great care of her. The staff was all amazing. They had programs and stuff that they would do. So, she didn't just sit in a room all day long. They took them out and did stuff. She seemed very happy with it and very entertained. The food looked good and smelled good, too. The room she had was fully furnished. It was like a miniature apartment. They had multiple levels of activities. They had the cafeteria, the activity room, and the meeting room. It was a nice facility. The Oaks at Snellville was the same price as everybody else and for two weeks of respite care, it was almost $3,000, but that's the going price across the board. It is what it is. That's just how much they all cost and in my opinion, it's not them personally (the manager and the staff) that set the price. It's their corporation that owns them and all the other facilities in the country.

I toured Oaks at Snellville. It was very clean and well-maintained. The representative was very attentive and very informative. He said I could call him any time for any additional information if I needed. The walking path in the back was nice. We toured different types of activities. It was my first time seeing a studio. We sat down and talked about how we could arrange the furniture and how that would be enough because I was thinking that we needed a one-bedroom or a two-bedroom. They had a salon, a reading place, and a library-game area. They had arts and crafts. It was a warm and friendly environment.

Oaks at Snellville was in the middle of a big remodel. They were bringing in new furniture and were upgrading a lot of stuff. The person that I had an appointment with wasn't there, so someone else took me around to look at the rooms. One of the things was that it was more expensive and the rooms didn't come furnished. It was also a much bigger place and it felt more like a hotel. So, it just wasn't for us. The people were very nice though and they took their time with me. The facility was secure. You couldn't get in unless you rang a bell, or put in a code at the door. There was an atrium in the back where there was a lot of foliage and flowers, which was nice. It was clean.
