I was not able to finish my survey, but wanted to comment that for activities we are promised outings on our bus but our activities director does not drive! We cannot go out to lunch or do any of the things we used to do. Training of a new housekeeper was not adequate. She does not remove trash from our rooms, does a poor job in cleaning and often sits visiting with a coworker for long periods of time. The floors on 4th floor are poorly cleaned also.

Over 90% of the time the food is good to very good. I have put on a little weight since I got here. My fault, not theirs. As someone else said, it is a calm and peaceful place. As part of my contract, when I moved here as a resident, I was given three months to decide whether to stay here or not. I asked people who had been here 10 years, 20 years and even 30 years, what they thought of the place. They all said they liked it. Now, I am looking forward to my carpeting being changed because it was not done before I moved in. I have been promised it will be done soon.

I went to Holiday Durham Regent. I liked everything that I was shown and the amenities and things that they had there. They had recreation. They had a gym area where you could go in and if you needed to exercise or whatever the case may be. The place was very clean and spacious. I didn't see anything that would turn me away from wanting to live there. I would recommend it to anyone who could afford it. The young lady that toured us was very friendly and very knowledgeable. She kept it exciting for us. She took us all over to the different areas, where the training was, where you could go and exercise or whatever. She took us into the dining room. She took us to where they meet and have bingo or some type of program that they might have, and told us about the church services that they had there also. They had a van that would take you to your doctor's appointment or if you needed to go to the grocery store or whatever. She introduced us to some of the people that stayed there. Every time we would pass one, she would introduce us and tell them who we were. We did go into the dining room. She had us sit at the table with a couple of the people that were already living there. We had lunch with them and we just talked and enjoyed ourselves. She did a great job. She won me over. If I can get my finances together, that would be the place that I would want to be. The few hours that we were there were just wonderful, and my wife and I both enjoyed it. They had a one-bedroom or a two-bedroom. We liked the fact that if family members came and they wanted to stay, like for two or three days and they didn't want to bother us, they had a place there that they could rent. They could stay there and be fed and everything. The amenities and things that they offered were wonderful. She introduced us to the manager. When we got back to Virginia a few days later, he called to find out how things went and what we thought of it. The food was hot when we got it. It was seasoned very well and very tasteful. The waiters that waited on us came and got our order as to what we would have, just the fact that you could go in and sit down and not have to go in line to get your food was just wonderful. You could just sit there and they bring everything to you and you didn't have to do anything. You would just sit there and eat, enjoy the food, enjoy the company, the fellowship.
Read moreOur tour experience with Holiday Durham Regent was good. The facility was nice and clean. The units were fine. They were small but organized. The staff was friendly. They had a social room and a gathering room where you can watch TV. They have a room like a library, or a little room to read.
