My mom moved into Devonshire Retirement Village, and I don't have too many positive things to say about it. The food has no selection. Everybody gets the same food, so you have no choice. The heat in the rooms is controlled by a whole hallway, so nobody gets individualized temperature in their rooms. When I asked that during the interview, they said it would be but it's not. The nurse's aides are just caregivers. They are not trained or experienced in different incontinent techniques. They are there just to check on you and make sure you're alive. They just walk into the rooms, they don't let themselves be known and they just open the door. The food has no individualized plan. Housekeeping only comes once a week and laundry is only once a week, and never on a consistent day.

Devonshire Retirement Village may have been our second choice, except it was a little farther away. It had more of a homelike atmosphere as opposed to some of them having more of a hotel-type setup. This was more homey. It was very nice. They were very helpful. Their menu was quite extensive and they would cater to the dietary needs of the residents.

Devonshire Retirement Village was another one that was in the top 3. It was nice. It was quaint. They're a little more one-on-one. The staff-to-resident ratio was very good, much better than any of the other facilities in terms of the staffing ratio. It's very well-staffed and better staffed than any of the other ones I visited, so that was nice. And there's a lot of nice walking paths around there, and it was nice with that. And the staff were very nice people as well. Beyond the walking path around the building, they didn't have much above that. They didn't have too many super special amenities, but there are a lot of nice walking paths around the facility. Most of these did not have that, so that was one of the very new amenities, but beyond that, nothing beyond in terms of something unique. The rooms were standard. Nothing sets them apart.

I toured Devonshire Retirement Village. I liked the apartments. They were nice. There was something in the pricing that I didn't like. I can't remember what it was, but the rent was like $2000 a month, and then there was something added on that didn't make much sense to me. It was a significant amount. It was a very nice property. They had meals. The staff gave me a pretty extensive tour. They had garages. The dining area was very nice. The menu looked appetizing. I didn't try the food, but it looked to be a pretty good balanced meal. The person who assisted me with the tour was very helpful and very nice. The place was very neat and very clean. However, I wasn't really happy with the pricing.
