My mother has moved into Charter Senior Living of Franklin. I love it and they have welcomed her with open arms. It's all on one level, which is nice, and it's smaller, so it's more intimate. Her room is a good size, and she has a lot of furniture in there. She has a bed, a dresser, a tall dresser, and her recliner. The rooms circle a courtyard, and they always have baby ducks in there. We were told we could put a birdfeeder out and we did that. So far, my mom is very happy there, which is important. They have a dining room up front and my mom says the food is good. Everyone is very caring there and that's the other thing I've noticed. My mom said, "If I don't go to dinner, they're trying to find out where I'm at or if I'm OK." Everybody gets a button that if they need a staff person, they just push the button. My mom has one on her wrist, which is nice. If she falls, she just has to push that button and the staff will come right in. The dining area is nice. It's like a family-style dining area and it's more intimate. They have the bus. They put a sheet out t the beginning of the month and it tells all the different activities that are going on from arts and crafts to going on a ride somewhere, going out to the store, or doctor appointments. They have a Wii bowling setup, and they have someone that sits there and helps them figure out how to use it. My mother has a big triple window in her room. It's a studio, and she likes it. They call the maintenance person right away if needed. We had to have a couple of things done just because she is moving in. Maintenance is good. The executive director there is very nice and very hands-on. You'll see her helping put out food. She sees what's going on out here. They're working very hard at making sure everything is good. I'm not having a problem with anything.

My mom moved into Charter (formerly Morningside) in August of 2013. Her first comments were: "There's nobody here but old people. I don't play bingo. I'm not going down for meals." Within a few short weeks, I was visiting her and noticed she kept looking at her clock. I finally asked why and her response was "Bingo starts in 10 minutes." Needless to say we had a change of heart and attitude. One of the most impressive things there is the nursing staff. Currently, the group there are the best in my opinion. Not only are they skilled nurses but they go over and above to take care of their people in every way. They did an amazing job during the Pandemic. The current director is doing a wonderful job and she has years of experience under her belt. I would highly recommend Charter to anyone looking for a place for Mom or Dad!
