Searching for long-term care for loved ones is a daunting task. Our family was fortunate to find the Champlain Valley Senior Community in Willsboro, New York. Our father suffers from dementia and was in need of care that we simply could not provide at home. The folks at Champlain Valley are kind, compassionate and caring, all you can ask for in a facility that is looking after a loved one. The facility is beautiful, clean, peaceful and provides a wonderful view of the Bouquet River. Living out of state, we appreciate the regular updates and communication from staff, keeping us apprised of his condition between visits. Champlain Valley is a gem of the North County.

Good morning, Mary, and thank you for the kind words. I hope the staff at CVSC know how much I appreciated them and the care they gave my father. "Journey" is the word that comes to mind when I think of him - every day was a journey. Over time, I grew to understand just how little I knew about dementia and about the many forms it takes. And that it looks a little different every day. CVSC provided a safe and loving environment for my father. He loved the outdoors, and I know he took opportunities to go out in the garden when it was warm and sunny. Some of the staff even sent photos of my dad smiling or a video of him dancing. I treasure those. Thanks to a life spent hiking, canoeing, skiing and camping, he was a physically strong person - and I know that his physical strength played a significant role in caring for him, and how difficult it could be for the staff during times when he was agitated. I am so grateful to the staff that they continued to communicate with me, continued to try to find new ways to handle difficult situations. They didn't give up on us. That is the most that any family can hope for in these type of situations. We were fortunate. All the best to you as you all continue YOUR journey. Carla

My mother just passed away at 94 after living at CVSC for the past 14 months. My mother and I were both very pleased with the amazing staff and the high quality of services they provided to me as a family member and to my mother as a resident. CVSC leadership and staff are well trained and dedicated to the happiness and well being of the residents. Of course issues can arise in any such setting but when they do the issues are minor and addressed fully. My mother also received a week of end of life care from Hospice and the team at CBSC. I was welcomed to stay in the room with my mother during that sad week. Not only did the staff support my mothers unique needs around the clock they also Tended to my well being through my mothers final days.

I liked that the residents at Champlain Valley Senior Community could eat at any time. Whether they missed the regularly scheduled meal or not, they could get food at any hour. I liked that they have seating out front so that a resident could go out and sit in the yard and not just be in their room. I felt comfortable that my sister would get the care that she needed there. The staff was very welcoming. The dining area was very clean. Due to COVID restrictions, if I wanted to go eat with my sister there, I wouldn't be able to eat in the dining room, but they have a separate area where you could go and visit and have lunch with your family members. That was nice. They have a salon area, a little chapel area, and a little small library area, too. They would also set up Zoom visits once a week with the family members.

Way under staffed and its a gossip ran place. Make a 16 year old work a 12 hrs shift which is totally against the law and then people run there mouth about the individual. Also this 16 year old was responsible for 45 plus residents by herself totally unsafe. I don''t think this place has been fully staffed since it opened. When the state comes in the aides are told to lie. Nurses and some not all med techs fill in med errors.
