A beautiful facility ,but memory care fell far below expectations.I made a huge mistake financially, emotionally and physically by not doing a two week Respite in Memory Care prior to signing for long term admission.Respite would have allowed for evaluation of facilities ability to care for a client who questioned all meds., rules and regulation.Client was not happy to be there and let it be known frequently. and used loud cursing when felt that personal space was being invaded.Staff was not knowledgeable of medications being given At no time was a meeting between staff, assigned physician, patient and family members suggested to form a personal care plan. I asked for a meeting several times and arrived at 0600 one morning to try and talk with her new physician. Told by the physician he was a busy man and didn’t have time for a discussion. Was personally present when med.tech gave inaccurate drug information.Clients pain medication came up 40+ short after admission.Count your drugs. .

The dementia unit was advertised that they had care, which was for people with those issues. The treatment was not targeted for my loved ones problems. At times people worked with her and other times they did not. They did not follow her diet or did not give her medicine that was needed. She was not getting her correct medicine on a regular basis. She made several trips to the hospital. Overall, they neglected lmy oved one. In addition, they charged a lot of money, it was expensive and I felt overcharged.

Cedarhurst of West Plains has been excellent. My mother has been in their memory care unit since August and they've been great. They did well as far as showing you the place and walking around and telling you about it, filling out the paperwork which was pretty easy, explaining all the paperwork, and moving in. They've been helpful and really good. On the memory care side, it was laid out well. It's really good for someone with Alzheimer's. At first, they were getting used to my mom and trying to figure her out. Now they got her pretty much figured out, the routine and everything. I think they're getting a lot better as far as working with her and everything. It took a little bit of just getting used to, communication-wise and her getting used to the place and getting used to everybody and everything. Now I think everybody's kind of got acquainted with it. All the staff, I think, were rotated enough so they got used to her and she got used to them. As far as I know, I think everybody's doing well up there. I don't think we've had any problems or issues or anything. I haven't been able to try the food but they told me all about the menu like what she's going to have for lunch and everything sounds really good. The food choices and all that seems good. She's mostly getting soft foods but their overall menu sounds good. I wish she can eat all that. There is only one little detail but they've fixed it. It's probably a contractor flaw but we had a problem with the shower part. The floor and the drain in the shower weren't laid out like they needed to be. The water was not running where it's supposed to be running. Overall, it's a very nice facility. The price is probably a little bit high but if you would figure it out, it's not high for the care versus if she was just at home and you would have to pay someone to watch her 24/7 while you work. It's probably not that expensive. I'd say the cost is probably reasonable.
