My father moved into Cedar Community. They've done a terrific job watching him. They have done an outstanding job changing what they do for him in order to match where the disease is. I'm just very, very pleased with how he's doing there. His room is spacious. It holds all of the family heirlooms and things that he took with him from his home, and there's plenty of room. They have a garden that his room looks out to and he would be able to get out there come summertime and wander around the gardens that they have going. The common areas are nice, especially the restaurant that he uses. They have several larger group areas where they can do programs like bingo or different religious activities like praying the rosary. He goes down to the activities himself. They announce them when they're going to start, and he makes the effort to get down there. If it's something that is an exercise program that he should be attending, they go and actually search him out so that he takes advantage of it. The food is excellent. It's designed for the assisted living residents where they'll have a generous breakfast and a generous lunch, and then a little bit less for supper. People go to bed early and that keeps things like reflux at bay. It's not cheap, but I think he does very well there. And it's that kind of idea that it's worth the money if he's doing well.

My mother was at Cedar Community. They could easily accommodate lots of people and provide lots of personal attention to my mother. The thing I liked least was the administration had a lot of problems keeping things straight, so she would miss doctors' appointments because they didn't get the transportation correct. She was in assisted living during the whole COVID period, which was hard because of their lockdown procedures. They seemed like they were more stringent than the place she's in now. It was hard on her. It was a nice place. It was tough, but everybody had a learning curve there. The problem that makes it average is that they've had a lot of turnover, which I think is also normal here with COVID that people are not staying in their jobs, and that's very hard for the service industry. They had very few activities. The place was plenty big. They had a salon, a gift shop, a snack shop, a beautiful courtyard, and an outside park. They had a nice room that was used as a chapel. The building is a little bit older and could use some upkeep. It was pretty expensive.

We toured Cedar Community in West Bend. They showed us everything very nicely. The apartment we saw looked good. It's a very big community, and we thought it's nice. The staff we met was very friendly and helpful. I would say it's probably one of the best places that we looked at. I like its location. It was not in a crowded area of a city, but it was also just outside of town and that was something that appealed to us. They had a small library and some activities too. They had people come in and talk about things or entertain.

Cedar Community is fine, but I chose a different facility because of the floor plan and amenities. For me Cedar was a little bit too remote, the actual place was out in the country. I didn't want to do that. The layout of the facility was fine. The staff was friendly but she was a little bit late getting to us. They did a lot of protocols for Covid which is fine. Nothing special but it was a tour. The apartments were small than the ones from the facility we have chosen. They also had fewer places to store things so that was also a concern. They also didn't have a full kitchen, I didn't like that they only have a microwave in them. There weren't as many social gathering places as other place that I've seen. They had outdoor spaces though. They mentioned that they have a lot of activities but of course they don't do most of them at the moment. It's been a few weeks since I was there so I can't remember what they did. I think it's still a good place, it's a nice rural settings if you like to be in a more rural setting.
