Most were good and for a while she seemed happy. Honestly, some of the staff were so good to mom. But some lacked compassion. As her mind declined so did proper care. Many ppl from agencies in and out and sloppy. My mother was on hospice care and they didn’t have the meds on hand to make sure she was comfortable when she passed. There were only two! Morphine and Ativan. I was told that it expires but she had been declining rapidly for two weeks. She completely stopped eating for two weeks and barely drank. What more did they need to make a decision to be prepared? One day her mouth was bloody and so dry and painful for her. Neglect in my eyes because obviously someone didn’t clean her up after trying to force her eat and cut her mouth. And it was a male nurse I was unfamiliar with that night. She said she had trouble swallowing and food was left in her mouth. Disturbing how poor mouth care was. I intend on filing this with the state. When someone is dying they no longer can eat, Advocate for your loved one :( They need it. Also, I was there everyday! I was the one who found her unresponsive then she came through as I yelled for help. My daughter arrived and we can clearly see she was drifting away, and instead of leaving us to be with my mom a nurse just stood in our way to stand there and watch her to hold her wrist while her breathing slowly became faint. We wanted to hold her hand as we knew she was dying. I know in my heart my mom knows we were there with her til the end. Not sure when someone is in hospice a nurse has to stand in the way of us being by her . We all know she’s dying! They don’t have proper training for a hospice patient. Which the hospice nurse got there in time or else that wouldn’t have happened.

My father is currently at Catholic Memorial and I am so grateful for the care, professionalism, and attention he is getting. My father is very sick but his case manager, nurses, and Doctors are proactive in ordering tests and getting him the treatment he needs. He tells me that the women there take good care of him and baby him, and the food is really good. Much better than his previous rehab. I could not ask for more. His case manager Roseanna is honest and clear with me regarding his condition and mental state. I highly recommend Catholic Memorial for care of a loved one.
