Carriage Inn - Lake Jackson was an overall nice place. I liked the location and convenience getting in and out and accessibility. It seemed a little on the small side. Everything seemed just a little small. It wasn't as spread out. Although the staff was pleasant enough, I did not click with them as well as I did at the other facility. They had the proper amenities that people would need to be able to sustain themselves, to be able to have a pleasant life and still have the proper level of care needed or assistance needed. They had a courtyard, a salon, a barber shop type thing, and a barber comes in periodically. They had a bus, so they could go shopping and get out from the facility and do various tours and stuff like that, something to keep people occupied and entertained.

The staff in the residents at Carriage Inn - Lake Jackson were all very friendly when I toured. The accommodations were very nice, they had more space and a full kitchen compared to the other place I toured. All the shared spaces or community spaces were very nice, the outdoor courtyard was beautiful, and they had flowers and pathways. It's just a nice facility all around. The living space was also more accommodating, there was more space. It's outside of our price range, but they still have better prices than the other ones I toured.

Her room is nice-sized, it's a little dated but well-maintained. The residents enjoy the food, and they seem to have a good amount of choices. Their dining area is very pleasant. They have waiters, and they can choose where they sit. For activities, they have monthly gala nights, bingo, ice cream, popcorn games, and book clubs, and they also have weekly excursions to local sites. The best thing about this community I would say is the community spirit. They look out for one another and are very welcoming. Their staff are very warm and friendly.

Carriage Inn - Lake Jackson was very clean. The people were very professional. The room we looked at looked really nice, but for my parents, coming from a four-bedroom, 2,800 square foot home, it was a shock. What was available as far as the two rooms and a very, very small living room area was a turnoff. The good thing is they had great menus and a great lunch area. They even had a hairdresser there, nails, and an ice cream parlor. It had some really cool things that they liked. It was just a lot of walking in the place. It's a big place. Other than that, they really kept it up well and the staff seemed to be great and very knowledgeable. She wanted us to see everything and we did. She was very helpful. It was topnotch, clean, and smelled good. Most of the places you go into don't smell as good as that one. They definitely have one of the best facilities I've seen.
Read moreWe were told that they inspected fingers and toes, on a visit with my mom to take her out for dinner, she was having trouble walking. After inspection she had terrible in grown toe nail. We took her to ER where they operated on them. Carriage inn had nothing to say. I moved her out.
We have heard the meals and dining service is pretty good and they do have different activities going on in the memory care unit. They do sing-a-longs and get their nails done.
