I am distressed by the ONE STAR review I read. I was in Cottage House for FOUR MONTHS. I met nurses, staff, administrators who were caring and tended to every need. Food was good and nourishing. I saw no abuse or laziness on the part of anyone. Even the smallest complaint was checked out immediately. It was not home, but I would return if I needed to. I have recommended it to others. Arbus Tanton and his staff are to be commended.

The POA my Uncle placed my grandma in this facility against her wishes because he is the POA and claimed this facility was family owned and operated by my grandfathers side. I am some how related to Admission Coordinator and was told that my grandma would receive VIP treatments. BTW I was providing my grandma care prior to this nursing home visit and she was and good health, never even a hospital stay. She had money to do things for herself and great insurance and now none of it. With in the last 6month of living there my grandma is consider terminal ill now and on hospice, her teeth are nasty, her clothes were covered in feces on more than one visit, and they didn''t even have her underwear. My grandma begs me to get her a lawyer and do something to get her out of there, I''m lost because of the POA abuse. My grandmother is my world and this is devastating to watch. They have isolated my grandmother from providing our phone numbers, if I write it on her calendar it will get removed. I was not allowed to tell her hi or goodbye after we drove 3 hours to see my grandmother after we just got informed that my grandmother had a heartattack and had terminal lung cancer with her 3 great-grandchildren because they asked us to step out and wouldn''t allow her access to her own great grandchildren claim something about them being under 4 yrs old and worried about the flu season, none of the kids were sick and they wouldn''t allow my 12yr old to visit either. The Coordinator will not answer my questions and asked her CNAs to block my grandmother door so we couldn''t see her. The Admission Coordinator locked my parents and I in her office with my POS POA uncle while my uncle attacked us and called the cops on us and got us removed from the property. We were only there to see my grandmother not for anything else. But family owned and operated right... even though my grandmother isn''t allowed her own tv. Space, she doesn''t have space from her own items like a walker or chair. Usually when I''m there the staff is unable to find and has a attitude about providing any details or compassion/care. I found her dirty underwear piled up in her closet while I was hanging her new clothes. As a healthcare worker myself, I am experienced in nursing homes and hospital care, as well and I have never in my life see this type of isolation and manipulation. I don''t care about anything but seeing my grandmother happy during her last stage in life but she is denied her sweet baby great grandchildren and her favorite TV shows, a window view. She is being treated worse than stray dogs and prisoner get treated. Please don''t put someone you love here, this is coming from the bottom of my heart. I believe this place is doing something very fraudulent and they have something to hide if they will treat someone they call family like that what will they do to non family. My Grandmother died after 6months living here. I watched my grandmother starve to death. As for her son and daughter in-law that claim this is a good nursing home on this review didn''t even attend her funeral. My grandmother was my pride and joy and when I picked up her belongings they handed me her teeth that they claimed were lost, found and buried with her yet she starved to death because she had no teeth to eat with. On two different occasions she didn''t even have water, I called the state and she was dead before they made it out to investigate. I think about her everyday and know my uncles and this family owned nursing home is responsible for her miserable death. I''ve worked in a ICU for over a decade and I begged to provide her care but money is the root to all evil and have mercy on this so called family owned nursing home and the others involved. I have pictures and plenty of proof, I''m currently working on a lawsuit. Why would anyone that loved their parent move them away from all her family she loved, take her home all her money and go on vacation, pay off his home and get a new ride without even having a job himself. BTW the POAs wife works for health insurance filing claims, sound fishy?
