The facility itself is clean and orderly. It looks like a hotel and very inviting. However it has one of the worst management that starts from the top down to its staffs, caregivers and maintenance. They dont seem to keep the same people. Just last year I witnessed myself four different executive directors. They only lasted for 2-3 months after all the training and mentorship. Then would resign and hire a new one again. Problems are the same again and again. They dont address the root cause. They always get caregivers from the agencies because their regular workers are not enough. I know one agency they used to get people from called ACTIVE HANDS owned by VILMA MOYO whose staffs only hold tourist visa and are not allowed to work here. They are working illegally. And the reason why they preferred getting people from them is because CADENCE pay less compare to the other agencies. If you have a relative, a parent or a friend whom you want to stay in cadence and be a resident I strongly discouraged you to do so. Cadence is more of a business than it is a home for elderly people. I know all of these because I used to work there. You will see positive reviews from 2 years ago. But you will not see positive reviews since 2023 because the care and service they provide is poor.

Cadence Millbrae was very nice. The administrator was very alert and concerned about my mother's situation. She toured us around very thoroughly and she was very friendly. The facility was clean and all the people we'd pass by in the hallways that worked there were very happy and greeted us very nicely. There weren't any activities taking place while we were there, but they were preparing to have somebody coming in. We saw a nice dining room and the living areas. They had several living areas, big and small, where anyone could relax and enjoy TV. And they had a room with a very nice piano in it that I liked because it was decorated nicely and it also looked like a pleasant place to hang around.

The facility is lovely and the staff is kind and caring, but the communication from senior management is terrible. They don''t bother to inform families of important changes, like when the Executive Director leaves. In fact, they''ve had 5 different Executive Directors in the past year. The latest ED just left, after only a few months on the job. They are getting yet another interrim ED to take over while they try to hire yet another "permanent" ED. The company did not inform us about any of this. We learned from residents. Too much turnover, disruption and lack of continuity. While the staff and managers are trying to do a good job, thats very difficult without stable, competent leadership.
