Brooking Park. Kudos to Patient advocate. Michela is the epitome of St. Louis motto. “Let me show you Missouri SHOW ME STATE” So I make Michela an Honorary Missourian” Definitely a dynamic product and person of pride as a patient advocate in the the show me state. “Let me Show You” Something Old Michela will tackle Something New Michela will handle Something only Michela will do From rooms From medical nutrition changes From her smile from start of work to her daily departure and back the next day To a patient in the rest and heal time zone. Michela and many more at Brooking Park should be appalled. Thanks Room 136 and Room 112

My sister was sent to Brooking Park for rehabilitation after breaking her hip. I didn’t believe that anyone could receive treatment and care as poorly as she did at Brooking Park. She would ring the call bell and she never had somebody come in under 25 minutes. when we ask about this, they told us, that was perfectly acceptable for a person who has a broken hip and cannot move on their own to have to wait 25 minutes to use the bathroom or to be removed from the toilet back to their bed or chair. That is not acceptable. We had to hire people to stay with her overnight just so that we were comfortable in knowing that if she needed something in the middle of the night she would be helped in a reasonable time. The family stayed the first few nights and I have to tell you that we saw no staff around after hours, you were lucky to see may be one person . The staff you did see was sitting in a little alcove watching TV. My sister fell twice overnight. After waiting eight hours for an x-ray and to have it read, we asked that she be taken to the hospital. At first we were told that we couldn’t do that because their doctor said it was a waste time. After demanding that she be transferred, the head of nursing in front of us belittled us about taking her to the hospital. We also questioned their doctor about a possible UTI because my sister was wearing a catheter and we could see that the discharge appeared to be consistent with a UTI. Their doctor refused to do a urine analysis, and when we got her to the hospital she did in fact have a UTI. I could go on and on about the things we saw in the week that we were there. After she was discharged from the hospital, we had her moved to a different rehab facility that we were very happy with. My advice is if you are going to put a loved one there do you research very very carefully.

My 91 year old mother was there for rehab for a stroke. The therapist were professional and did all they could to help my mother. The social worker was terrible. I called many times and no return call back. She calls me on a Friday afternoon to tell me my mom has a discharge date of the following Wednesday with with it being a holiday on Tuesday, no one in offices to help process the paperwork on the weekend. Referral packets had to be sent out to long term care places. I had to jump through hoops to get a transport company. We get there on Wednesday and none of her items are ready to go. The transport company helped get things together. She is rude. These are older people you are working with and there family''s. Have a little compassion!!!
