Brookdale Wilsonville was nice. When you walk in, it's very open and friendly. The staff there was really good. I liked the rooms better, just the layout and the design of them. Everyone was super friendly when you first walked in. The people that were living there were very friendly. They had a garden area, which was a little farther away and that's the only thing. For most residents, it's a little jaunt across the parking lot to get to it, but other than that, it was good. They had a nice dining room, a good TV/movie space, a lot of people out doing games and playing cards and stuff in a lot of the areas, so it was nice. They had a nice fireplace, a piano, a library, and a reading room.

I liked Brookdale Wilsonville because they are working with me. I have a condition that no one will take me, but these folks are working with me, and that's why I chose them so quickly. They would support me in any way they could. I talked with the doctor and he was very kind and wanted to do anything he could to get me in there. It's a beautiful place. Andy was so kind and so willing to help me. She's just wonderful. The one bedroom seems perfect for me. I do not plan to use the kitchen because I don't want to do any cooking, but I'm going to use a lot of the kitchen cupboards and pantry for storage of my items. I saw the menu and it looked like a nice choice of entrees for each meal. The dining area looks nice and pleasant. There's an outdoor barbecue (I'm not sure if residents use that or if the kitchen uses it). There are walking paths, which are wonderful, and a lot of greenery around. I found this community to be perfect in that there are things close to the community that are of value to me. For instance, grocery shopping. There are two major grocery stores. The post office is within walking distance. The Goodwill, my favorite store, is close by. The library is close by. It's just ideal.

My tour of Brookdale Wilsonville was good. It was informative. It just was a bit dated (like the carpet and the furnishings) compared to the other ones I visited. But it was clean, well-kept, and organized. The lady who gave me the tour was great. She was fabulous. Of all the tours I went on, she was my favorite person. With regards to the living atmosphere, everything was nice, well-lit, very clean, and well-kept. However, it wasn't what my father was looking for. He wanted something that felt younger. The place wasn't bad. It was the oldest of the facilities I visited, so it felt dated. There was nothing wrong with it other than, it just seemed you walked in there and you felt like it was older.

We went to Brookdale Wilsonville. The staff were great. We liked this place. They were a little bit out of my in-law's price range, which is why we did not choose them. And the apartments were small, but we really liked everything else about them. The people there were great. The facility was nice. They had great activities. One thing we didn't like there is that they didn't have transportation at the moment, instead they would call you like a Dial-A-Ride. But we wanted a place that had transportation where we knew that they got our parents there, that they were there to pick them up, and that they were there to watch over them. So that was one thing that we didn't like. They had all kinds of activities. While we were there, they were doing an exercise class, and there were a lot of people in it. They have games, bingo, and a lot of different musicians come in. They have great activities planned. They offered us a meal, but we didn't have time. But we looked at their menu, and it looked incredible.

I visited Brookdale Wilsonville twice, once by myself and once with my brother. They have a nice facility, and they do offer both independent living and assisted living. They offer one thing that is different, they have assisted living on one level of the facility and independent living on another level. I think the assisted living was on the second floor. They had a nice dining facility. It was a little older facility, the exercise area was just a little corner off in a community area, the same thing with media or movie theater type thing. It was just a large screen TV off in the corner of a large common area. It wasn't anything to get excited about at all. The manager that I met was quite cordial and helpful and gave me brochures and information.

My mother-in-law was in their independent living. It was really great. It was a very nice place. They had lots of activities for my mother-in-law. They did bus outings. They went shopping, and they did a really good job with that.
