My father will be moving into Brookdale Westover Hills. Communicating with the people was very easy to do. They're very open to being flexible with the tour. We saw the memory care area and the director of memory care spoke with us, did a tour of that area, and she was very knowledgeable. I liked the amenities there. It's designed and developed for a memory care person. It's more than what you typically find in a facility like that. The menus looked good. They're not the same menus that I've seen at other facilities, so that was important also. He's getting a semi-private room. It looks like it's going to have enough storage and it's going to be adequate for his needs. The community rooms are well positioned so that they can have visitors. The whole idea is that you're not going to be in your room that much, so the rooms don't have to be big and lavish or anything like that. The goal is to get them out of their rooms. I think it's going to work out well. The two rooms share a bath. There's like a little bit more than a three-quarter wall between the two bedrooms. They have a room that has specific activities if you want to do games or whatever. They also have stuff geared towards men, and it wasn't all just like puzzles and checkers. They had different things that they could put together or sort things to kind of help them with their dexterity and their memory.

The tour at Brookdale Westover Hills was good. The only thing is we barely saw any residents out and about, and maybe that was a fluke, but my mom and I didn't like that. We wanted to see more people interacting in the social areas, and we didn't. Maybe we came at a bad time. My mom's very loving and she's very friendly, and she wants people to be around and up and about, and that place was like everybody was in their rooms. The staff who gave the tour was great. The room or apartment was like a mid-level hotel. The upkeep looks fine. The dining area was much smaller than the other place we toured, but it was a smaller facility. It looked like it had cafeteria-style dining. They weren't utilizing their dining room because of COVID, but they were reopening the dining room this week.

The place was clean, and the apartment was nice, so I have really good comments about it. The person who assisted us was very friendly and very nice. She told me everything that I needed to do and what the process was. I've seen the dining area, and it looks very good. There were no activities when I was there -- everybody was in their room -- but I think there were some people sitting downstairs. They had a beauty salon and a barber shop in there, but I could not see it because the door was closed.

My mom moved into Brookdale Westover Hills. She was there briefly, and then she was moved to Behavior Hospital to get her medication corrected, and then she'll be returning to Brookdale. She moved into the assisted living, but will now move to the memory care when she returns. The experience was very, very good. I guess all the nurses and the workers are very engaged, very thoughtful, and free to give out their cell numbers. We had a lot of issues with my mom with her transition. With COVID, the transition just was not easy for her since she has Alzheimer's. It was very difficult, but they were all very, very good in checking in on her.
