I liked Brookdale Walla Walla. However, if somebody stays at Brookdale, they better be competent enough to know to stay away from the staircases because the staircases were open. If somebody takes an elevator upstairs and doesn't quite have all their faculties, they might end up going down the stairs. It's a small community, but it's not for somebody with compromised mental faculties unless they were restricted and could not go upstairs. I liked Brookdale a lot. I thought it was topnotch, but they had open staircases. I liked the staff and they have meetings with the residents where they discuss what's needed and what the problems are. They can submit ideas for improvement. The rooms were very nice, but they have typical squared-off corners, and I don't like to see square corners where the elderly or toddlers are because they tend to walk into them and you could fall on one. It's clean and beautiful. They had a separate place for ice cream, and the dining area was very nice.

No communication from Executive Director during the current pandenic. No updates, information, nothing. Residents have been instructed to stay in their rooms since March with no activities, exercise or any type of mental stimulation. The meals (which at one time were decent) have become a joke...

Residents have been instructed to stay in their rooms since March with no activities, exercise or any type of mental stimulation. The meals (which at one time were decent) have become a joke . Revolving door of employees. We were very happy with Brookdale when our relative moved in almost 2 years ago. Unfortunately we can no longer say that. The current Executive Director is way over her head and has an attitude.

The staff were very friendly. Residents with dementia need more assistance and to be offered the daily opportunity to attend activities. I feel my mom needed more one on one attention. The food was good with a variety on menu and mom always ate her meals. I had asked the staff to take my mom to the bathroom every two hours but they didn't follow through and weren't consistent with it sometimes waiting up to four hours. Resident with advanced dementia need more frequent attention throughout the day than this community was able to provide.
