Happy hour socials
Our memory care residents enjoy equally fulfilling days with extra support and structure from our care team. We’ll provide gentle guidance and daily reminders as your loved one participates in six planned activities per day, such as gentle exercise classes, craft classes, cooking workshops, social gatherings and musical performances. Rest assured that each program is specifically designed to inspire feelings of belonging, purpose and meaning while helping them maintain their current skills for as long as possible.
When you want some time to yourself, you can take a break in your pet-friendly apartment. My mother lives in Brookdale Sunwest. It's a community, but she doesn't have people around her. She's in independent living at the moment. She's been there seven years, so it's fine. All they do is provide food. They clean every other week. Other than that, they don't have much to do with the people. My mom has a two-bedroom villa, so she has a garage, a patio, two-bedroom, two-bath. She has her own place. They have a cafeteria and community room. They cook and she pays for the food. They have a pool, a library, a hairdresser, and activities. It's a lovely place. It's expensive, none of them are cheap, but it's a nice place. Everybody's friendly.

I visited Brookdale Sunwest a year and a half ago and it was really nice. They were having some simple physical exercises for people that were in wheelchairs, like tossing a beach ball in and handing stuff to each other. That was pretty neat. They were taking care of the people and keeping them busy. The place was very clean, too. My only concern was that it was a bachelor apartment and it was very pricey. The people we met were very nice. In fact, I live in a 55 plus community, and a couple here is moving there. They're very active seniors and they liked it so much that they're moving there, which was nice. We went to the memory care area and it was real nice and inviting. When you walk in, it's kind of like you're in your home. It's a very nice atmosphere. The woman that gave the tour was great. She was very informative, very cordial, and very professional. I liked her.

I went to Brookdale Sunwest for a tour. I liked their main gathering area. There was just a kind of warmth to it. What I liked the best about them was in their rooms, you had actual kitchens. It was set up a little bit more like an independent apartment. You could fix yourself something there. They had a lot of stuff going on, a lot of things for their residents and I liked that. I saw a sheet of things that they were offering and I thought they sounded fun. Of the three I visited, it was my first choice for my father. The food was good. You get two meals there. It's a little old in some places, but relatively clean.

My apartment is small but very comfortable and well-appointed. I have a living room, a kitchenette, a bathroom, a large closet, and a bedroom. I have no complaints about the staff here. We have activities and trips. There's a beauty shop/barbershop combination. Once a month, a podiatrist comes in and we can make an appointment with them.

I liked all the inclusions at Brookdale Sunwest, such as your meals and the activities. You get a nice, brand new place, where there's no maintenance to do. The apartments were nice. For my lifestyle, they were just small. Then I went and saw their little villas. I found one that I really liked. The only thing was the doors to the garages were kind of narrow. I know some people that live there, and I have eaten there twice. Both times I ordered the fish from their menu that is supposed to be there every day, and both times they didn't have it. They were out. Other than that, the food was good. The place was very clean and well-maintained, too.
