I've been here at Brookdale Rosehill for rehab for about 2 months now. I like their occupational and physical therapy. They're caring. I haven't had any complaints about the staff here. My room has an ADA-compliant shower. It is a walk-in shower that has handrails all the way around, so everything is accessible to you. The only thing I have to complain about is that the toilets are low. The rooms are big with big closets. The doors are wide. I have a wheelchair, and I can get in and out the doors - the bathroom door and the entry door. They got me an air mattress because they noticed that I was getting sores. I have a television, a reclining chair, and a regular chair. Some of the rooms have carpet and then some of the rooms have hardwood floors, and I'm in one with the hardwood floor. The staff is fine. There was one time when they were very short-staffed with CNAs. They serve meals and they're pretty good. I haven't had any complaints about the meals. They give you a menu the day before to choose what you want to eat for the next day. We get three meals a day, and then they have snacks out by the kitchen, like fruits and chips. Each day, they say what activities they do on the calendar. The only thing that I've experienced is group occupational therapy. When I first came here, they gave me a book on the things that they do here. They said there is an emotional dog that would come to your room, but they haven't had a dog come here. I'm looking for the dog to come, but it hasn't happened.

Brookdale Rosehill was really beautiful. It was clean. It had a lot of amenities. It had skilled nursing attached to it. I liked it. It was nice. I liked the rooms. It reminded me of what my mother has now. I like their bathroom and the shower. It's larger. I just like their setup better. They seem more organized than where she is now. I thought the carpet was nice, but the view was not so much. The room looked to another building. The lighting was good. It was nice. I thought their activities were a lot nicer. They had more things for the residents to do. It was a bigger facility, so of course, they could do more. They had a chapel on site with church services, which my mom would probably really appreciate. They had a doctor that was on call 24/7 and I like that. They had a lab there where they actually could do a urinalysis and maybe a blood draw, so they didn't have to send everything out. I met the director, and she seemed good, organized, and informative, so I liked her.

The care (if we can even call it that) that my grandma received here was absolutely unacceptable. She was brought to the rehabilitation unit from KU after a fall resulting in broken bones and a femur replacement which (obviously) were going to need rehabilitation. In the weeks my grandma has been here, nurses have come in one (1) time to do her rehab exercises. All other times, she is left laying in her room alone. According to her, the nurses do not do rounds - the only time they come to her room are when she presses the call button multiple times. They don’t even come in to do routine checks such as water refills, diaper changes, etc. These are important things considering she is unable to put any weight on her leg. When I came to visit my grandma today, she had been sitting in a soiled diaper for God only knows how long and was complaining that she was hungry but no one had been in to see if she needed anything to eat between meals. Our family is currently working on removing my grandmother from this rehab center and placing her in a facility that prioritizes the well-being of their patients. This place has shown the opposite. My grandmother is determined to make a full recovery but when you have a staff that sits around at the nurses station chatting rather than focusing on patient care, it makes things difficult. If you care about your loved ones getting attentive care around the clock, this is NOT the place to send them, unfortunately.

My mother has been in and out of this facility for the past couple of weeks. Every time I speak with her, she is having a problem with neglect from staff members. This has been confirmed by my father who is on site visiting her daily. When asked to go to the bathroom, she is told that they need to get an aide to assist, hour later, is told that they couldnt find some one. If she has an accident while having to wait, she has often been humiliated by the staff, for having to clean up. My father brought this to the staff''s attention, and the staff member in question, had decided to move the phone away to another area of the room out of her reach. My father brought this to the attention of management. The staff member was moved away from her care. I just got off the phone with my mother, and she has been waiting 50 minutes for someone to help her go to the bathroom. She is wearing a diaper, but is holding best she can in fear of reprisals. Not sure what the problem is, but PLEASE keep in mind, these patients deserve some inkling of respect and compassion. Just because they are old and bedridden, they should not have to face indignity and humiliation. Not sure how often this site is audited, and the staff trained. Management, please reach out to your patients and staff. Would be more than happy to here from management, as I see there our recent similar complaints.
Read moreThe service is horrible they do not cleaned our patients rooms in a timely fashion they do not change the sheets in a timely matter the nurses are very unaware of what is going on in the facility I do not recommend you send your family best wishes
Very unprofessional for loved ones when they have to wait 2 days for toilet paper, bed to be changed, and cleanliness of room!
