Our experience with Ormond Beach Brookdale was pitiful. The staff was unresponsive to phone calls. Taking a COVID test every day before entering was unnecessary. My father still got COVID there. They did not give him his medication as prescribed. They put him on a mattress on the floor and in a bean bag on the floor even though I requested for them not to. I walked in multiple times to find his food still covered and him unable to reach it. They basically starved him to death. On the day he died I was sitting outside the main entrance waiting on my COVID test results when they came out and told me he just passed. They never notified me beforehand.

I chose Brookdale Ormond Beach West because I think it best fits my sister's needs because of her advanced dementia and memory problems. Plus, the apartments for the residents are very nice. It's almost like a little studio apartment and they're very clean and updated. The people there are very nice. Their CNAs or LPNs, their health directors, and their activity director have all been there for over ten years. So far, my sister said the food is fine. They ask you what type of food your loved one prefers. As far as amenities, it's a very wide open facility. It's circular and U-shaped, so there's a lot of walking room where the residents can walk around. They have a beautiful courtyard where they plant things and the residents plant things. They have a nice lanai off the courtyard to sit on. They have a nice sitting room upfront with a fireplace and a television if the residents just want to be in the wide open with everybody. I don't know the staff all that well, but the ones I've met are very, very nice and very considerate. I've had little few glitches, but nothing major. I'm sure it's just overwhelming for them or they're too busy, but they're getting straightened out. The activities are wonderful. I've been to a couple of them myself. The activity director has been there for 11 years. She gets the residents involved and she does a lot of fun things. It's a little pricy though. They're in the range, but they're a little higher than some of the other ones.

Toured this facility. Very clean building. Friendly staff. Fresh clean smell. Residents were engaged with activities and smiling and laughing with staff and one another. Nursing and care staff engaged with the residents. Facility had a at home feeling. Very impressed with the staff and building.
I toured Brookdale Ormond Beach West and was very impressed with what I saw. I’m definitely considering them for my family. The building was very secure with a beautiful garden in the middle. I would feel very comfortable placing anyone in this building.
