We have toured Brookdale Northwest Greensboro. In my friend's situation, there were more minuses than pluses. With his limited income, he would only be able to get a shared room out there and he wasn't crazy about that. He is hard of hearing and when his TV is working, it's blasting and that would not be conducive to living with somebody who maybe has normal hearing. That was the downside of it. The staff during the tour was very knowledgeable of the facility. She did an excellent job. It's just not what my friend wants. They had a van available and a barber shop and a beauty shop by appointment. They have a doctor that comes. My friend has a lot of medications that are provided for him through the mail and they made it abundantly clear that he could no longer participate in that outside situation because, at Brookdale, they have to give you your medicine whenever you take it. There's nothing wrong with them. It just does not suit his purposes.

When I entered Brookdale NW, I was going there from a rehab facility and didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised at the contrast and that the people at Brookdale were so friendly and courteous. From the staff in the dining room, to the administrative staff, nurses, other residents, and visiting therapists, everyone was concerned with my care and adjustment to living there. The meals were good and I especially miss the generous breakfast each morning. The people of Brookdale turned out to be members of a nice community that I felt comfortably part of for my stay. I really appreciated the warm atmosphere and caring individuals there.
