From The Community
Finding the right care for a loved one living with Alzheimer’s or dementia can be challenging. At Brookdale Fort Myers The Colony, we strive to make that decision an easier one. Located in the quaint coastal town of sunny Fort Myers, Florida, our memory care campus is built from the ground up with your loved one’s well-being top of mind. With our research-backed Clare Bridge program, robust events calendar, and specialty-trained staff, your loved one will have everything they need to flourish.
Our community has a safety-first mindset, and you’ll find comfort in knowing that our campus is outfitted with monitored entrances and exits, color-coded spaces to help guide residents, and a 24-hour security system. We also have care staff on campus 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to be alerted to an emergency.
With that in mind, our emphasis on safety doesn’t mean that we’ve skimped out on the comfort or the fun. Your loved one will have a structured daily path of engagement designed to help strengthen their current physical, cognitive, and social skills. This includes a minimum of six daily activities, such as group walks, art therapy, and group reading.
On-site amenities like our library, game room, salon, ice cream parlor, and courtyard also provide you or your family member with opportunities to partake in social events and explore hobbies in a safe and secure environment.
When it’s time to rest and recharge at the end of the day, your loved one will have their own cozy apartment they can call home. All floor plan options include a private bathroom, spacious closets, and large windows to let in an abundance of natural light.
When it comes to your loved one’s care program, you’ll be pleased to know that everything is personalized based on your loved one’s needs. Residents enjoy services like housekeeping and restaurant-style dining, and our care staff is here to help with daily tasks like grooming, dressing, medication management, and dining assistance. Whether it’s helping your loved one get around on campus or providing gentle reminders, we strive to help our residents live their best life.

My father has moved into Brookdale Fort Myers The Colony. I like that it has fewer residents, and the staff is caring and attentive. His room is basic, but it is perfect for somebody in memory care. The residents seem to be happy and they are engaged in activities. They've had numerous parties. We just were at a Christmas party on Monday. They had a tree-lighting party. They have sing-alongs, birthday parties, games, and movie nights. There are at least 2 shopping centers in the area. They have the dining room divided into those who are pretty good at handling a meal and regular utensils, and then they have the other side for those who need more attention. It is a very nice dining room. They have a hair salon, as well.

They answer questions that I have when they come up and I think they're doing the best that they can. I'm very grateful that the facility is caring for him. He seems to be doing fine with the meals. He seems to like it. He has not been gaining weight or losing weight, and I find that to be very good.

Brookdale Fort Myers The Colony was a small community. I think there were only 28 residents there and they had an overwhelmingly good resident-to-staff ratio. It was phenomenal. It almost seemed like they had individual care for each of the residents. We saw a lot of staff there. The staff was knowledgeable and patient. I met the activities director as well. It was strictly memory care, so it would be a little bit more intensive for the staff. It was slower-paced. The dining area was small and intimate, easy for the residents to get up to the tables, and it was just a quiet dining experience for them.

We went to Brookdale Fort Myers the Colony. Our experience was very good. The tour was very extensive and they showed us all we needed to see and answered all the questions that we had. The staff was very good. The rooms were very nice. They were watching a movie and there were some people that were coloring. They had a nice courtyard. The atmosphere was excellent. They were having some difficulty with some renovations because of the flooding from the hurricane, and they were just finishing.

The staff at Brookdale Fort Myers The Colony were all terrific and very, very caring. Every one of them knew their residents' names. The people that work in the office even come out to help at mealtimes to keep them on task. The place is kept very clean. They have something going on almost every day. They have live entertainment and all sorts of activities to help keep their memory level up. They don't force them to partake, but they're encouraged. They can also do some gardening if they want to. They have a private dining room, so if I want to go over there and reserve it for the family, I could.
