My wife has been at Brookdale East Wichita for a few months now. It's a good community and she's starting to feel at home there. Her room is nice. She's got a little bit of a larger room than some of them because it's at the end of the hall. It's a nice place, but I'm just a little concerned about whether they have enough help sometimes. They have a room full of food and they serve good food. The dining area is nice, it's almost like a restaurant.

Our family had an in person tour with Brookdale East Wichita and I would say it seemed more "clinical" than "home-like" and staff seemed distant in regards to residents and the cost was also a consideration. Brookdale started at [fee removed] a month if I recall correctly.

Dementia and AD are diseases that deteriorate the residents and cause more effort to be done by caregivers - they don't always have enough CNAs to manage the residents. Not to mention they don't have much time to really engage, which the residents need. Too much time is spent in one room (game room) with one caregiver. The admin staff are poor communicators, rarely do they call me back when I call. I have never received a call back from the wellness director, during thee time that my loved one has been there.
