Brookdale Des Plaines, IL 7 months since my original review of Brookdale Des Plaines as a new resident……my opinions have only gotten better and stronger. The short version…COME AND JOIN US!!!! Or……read on…. The # one reason for my opinion of continued satisfaction is that the management AND staff continue to administer their responsibilities at the highest level, on a 24/7/365 basis! Things that stand out after 7 months is the attitude / dedication of the entire staff, food, house-keeping, maintenance, At-home services, activities, even busing, GREAT people doing GREAT jobs with terrific attitudes, smiles on their faces. Making certain the residents get all the assistance that they need. House-keeping of this 10 story building is relentless…and appreciated!!! Note, I have not mentioned Medical/nursing care because I am not in Assisted Living, so I do not have much contact with those services. However, I do use the on-site Physical Therapy service which has proved to be exceptional. During the 7 months I have met so many more residents…… at music presentations, various activities and during dining. AGAIN, long term residents and newbies like myself all make the same positive comments. Weekly “open” resident reviews of future menus by the TERRIFIC and creative kitchen staff keeps new creations being offered on a regular basis. Simply cannot say enough about the efforts of the entire Chef’s team. Monthly All Resident “open” meetings provide the proper forum for residents and management leaders to air our needs and wants. Mix and Mingle sessions allow residents to gather together in friendly smaller groups. Lobby Holiday decorations almost rival Rockefeller Center and celebrate all religions. Hats off to the local businesses and the city of Des Plaines for the beautiful decorations in the surrounding area. Friends who come to visit us are delighted at the total beautiful community spirit!!! Finally, I have NO association with Brookdale,,,,PERIOD!!! Thank you for reading, and Happy New Year !!! 1/4/2024 Brookdale Des Plaines, IL Quick review, after 7 weeks of residency. 83 yr old senior male here. Scheduled for major surgery earlier this yr, unknown if I would need Independent or Assisted level facility. Lived alone in a 2100 sq.ft 3 story townhouse and needed to change my living situation big time. Visited 5 different Senior Living facilities in Jan.-Feb 2023. Brookdale Des Plaines was 1 of the 5. Sister in law came along to provide a feminine slant on things! We took our time w/ scheduled visits, took notes (and pic’s in some cases), I ended up choosing Brookdale Des Plaines for multiple reasons. I am over the top satisfied…..6 hour surgery (3/10) went very well, then 3 wks at Shirley Ryan Agility, sold a Townhouse and moved in to Brookdale 6/1 as planned. The facilty itself, the management and the staff…..the excellent food service, all the activities and amenities....each one and all combined deliver "above expectations" …in depth!!! Residents here truly love this place and the staff visibly goes out of their way to assist ALL the residents....... repeat that ALL the residents!!! In this environment, I believe that requires strong and demonstrative "top down'' influences from management. You can see it, feel it, smell it and know it happens here. One example, the head of housekeeping has been here 28 years (I think I have that correct).....and the entire place is close to spotless!!! That takes a total TEAM effort………..DAILY (it is a 10 story building)!!! Actually, all this is a bit of a surprise to me. I had previously visited a few friends in similar facilities with quite different impressions. For me it has been a dramatic change.....my most common thought these past 2 months....adapt and adjust. I didn''t just downsize from 2150 sq. ft. to +500........I totally changed my environment along with way of life I am MORE than satisfied with the outcome. THANKS to Brookdale Des Plaines, it’s management, staff and residents!!!

We toured Brookdale Des Plaines for my mom. I love the facility. It's very modern and very clean. It looks beautiful. I just didn't get that same warm and fuzzy feeling there that I felt in the other community.

The facilty, the management, staff, excellent food service, all the activities/ amenities....each one, and all combined deliver "above expectations" !!! Residents here truly love this place and the staff visibly goes out of their way to assist ALL the residents. That is strong and demonstrative "top down' influences from anagement.
