We take a person-centered approach to care and lead residents down a daily path of enrichment, allowing them to nurture their current skills and explore a variety of hobbies. This includes gentle research-backed activities like gentle fitness classes, brain-boosting games and art and music events. We’ll also help with daily living tasks like bathing, dressing, dining and mobility. And our staff is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to be alerted to an emergency.
Residents will choose their apartments from a variety of floor plans. Each comes with large windows that let in plenty of natural light, a spacious living area, bathroom and closet. We also have friendship suites where loved ones can share spaces with other members of our community. And our apartments are equipped with emergency response alerts near the bed and in the bathroom for easy access in case of an emergency.
Seniors will also enjoy an array of resort-like amenities, like an on-site library, community kitchen, private dining room and salon. Buckingham Heights was only dedicated exclusively to memory care so that they can address every need at every stage, whatever happens to your loved one who's got dementia. Suzanne assisted us with the tour and she was wonderful. She's been there a long time and can answer any question you have. The other shining star thing that I would say about the place was that they had a lot of staff who have been there for many years. They have relatively low turnover and there is a lot of staff. They have like a 5-year, 15-year, and 20-year club for those staff who have been there that long. The dining area looked very nice. The rooms were basic but pleasant. The idea there was not to spend all your time in your room. So, the room was just a place to dress and bathe and sleep. But the life of the place was based on keeping the residents engaged and active. When it comes to the activities, they are appropriate for people with memory issues. They have an inner courtyard that is freely available for residents to go into on their own. For the outside patios, you need to have somebody with you. Even their physical facilities were designed to give the most freedom and autonomy to their residents.
