This senior living facility truly takes a person-centered approach, offering care options and life-enriching activities based on the direct requests of residents. Some even join the Lunch Bunch, a lively group that tries out new restaurants in the area once a week.
Scheduled outings are frequent, too — residents might take off to the duck ponds at Park Road Park, go shopping at Morrocroft Village, attend performances at nearby performing arts centers or engage with history at the Levine Museum of the New South. This is a review of the Memory Care Center. In all of the 9 months that my mother was in this center I never saw any activity going on in the main area. All the victims (Elderly Clients) ever did was sit in a semi circle watching pointless T.V. It was the saddest thing to see all of them just sitting hunched over in their wheelchairs, expressionless, begging for interaction, while the caregivers sat around the lunch table on their cell phones ignoring the "victims". Management puts on a great show at first and will promise anything to get you in. They tell you that they will hire extra caregivers to cover your loved ones needs.... Then, you have to beg to get what was promised. We paid for 3 showers a week. Had to BEG to make sure to get them. Promised that mom would be put on the toilet every 2 hours, that she would have breaks from the wheelchair. Have PT and OT, etc.....but as soon as you walk out the door, the caregivers do what THEY want to do. THEY put my mom in diapers. Because it was easier for THEM. No PT, because I DIDN''T CONTACT THEM. (?). Excuses, Excuses, Excuses.... And the person that makes all the initial promises and makes you feel special and that it is going to be the perfect place for mom??? You will never see her again!!! The caregivers do whatever they want to do, there are no cameras watching them so they can get away with anything. If they leave a victim unattended in a bed and they fall on the floor once or twice or more,...no one knows. I would be in my mothers room and hear a woman screaming "Help" over and over she had fallen out of her bed. I I would have to go and find someone to get her up. This happened multiple times). If they break a hip or two, they can just pick them up and put them back in bed or their wheelchair, because there is no one watching and most of the other caregivers will be on their cellphones, so they won''t notice anyway. Although my mother is not mobile, she fell out of her queen size bed twice WHY(?). One time she fell on her face and was moved (WHY?) to eat breakfast(?) before being taken to the Emergency Room where they found a broken hip (WHY) as well facial bruises. The EMT was suspicious, but apparently the state thinks everything checks out A-okay! While recovering from this, my mom fell out of her bed AGAIN (WHY?). She was taken back to the hospital for a second hip replacement(?). A WHOLE WEEK IN THE HOSPITAL, AND NO ONE FROM BRIGHTON CALLED TO SEE HOW MY MOTHER WAS DOING. (But, they "really care", that is what they say!). In fact, this is how my mom ended up at Home in Hospice with 6 months to live. The truth is, we do not value the elderly, nor the people who take care of them. And that is very, very, very sad. :(

After the untimely death of my brother''s wife, it became necessary to transition my brother to assisted living. Knowing little about the process, I quickly became pro-active in learning the ins & outs of adult care and did extensive research on a dozen + facilities in the greater Charlotte area. After meeting with the sales team at BGoC and touring the facility, I knew I''d found the right place. It''s centrally located to good & services, including medical resources. The common areas and rooms are spacious, airy and very well kept. Most importantly, I find the BG staff and medical teams to be top rate. Brighton Gardens provides a web portal which enables close contact with staff and family...a nice plus. The management team is communicative, accessible and demonstrates care for the service they provide. Costs are quite reasonable.

My 95 year old mother was admitted to Brighten Gardens almost 4 weeks ago, until then she was still driving and living on her own. She as embraced the lifestyle at Brighten Gardens, the staff has been great with her care and comfort. The Executive Director is very hands on and very responsive to our requests and concerns. My Mother has made new friends with the other residents and seems to be at "home" here. The administrative staff has always been available to me and I feel that my Mother is in a great situation at Brighten Gardens. Could not be more pleased.

I would recommend Brighton Gardens of Charlotte to others. I myself have not tried the food, but my loved one feels that it needs improvement. But his opinion may be because they are not offering items that he likes. The Director, [name removed], does really care and is great about keeping the resident's families updated. I have had to reach out to management once or twice to ask questions, but they have always responded to me in both a professional and timely way.

I met Jodie when I visited Brighton Gardens of Charlotte, and she was very friendly, very inviting, and she seemed to care. She even followed up with me a little bit afterwards to check on my grandmother. The facility was in a good location. It was clean and up to a standard to where I would want my grandmother to stay. The only thing I didn't like was that you had to bring your own furniture. When I was there, there weren't any activities going on. They were kind of going through some renovations. Some of the things that Jodie showed us will be ready soon and would have been nice. They also had an area where your family could meet up for holidays. You could rent a room. Then they had some nice outdoor seating areas. It was a good environment and it seemed to have a good energy.
