Do not take your loved ones there! My mother was injured by a door slammed on her foot during the her dialysis transportation. Her toes turned gangrene and she started to get sick and we were notified by Sarasota hospital when she was brought in not by Beneva nurses. After that She denied dialysis and a week later passed away. I had to deal with this long distance and still to this day breaks my heart. My step father had to stay after his passing his wedding ring was stollen. His wallet was stolen and visa was used to shop at the local Walmart and to send money to a convict in jail. I had to get my local sheriff involved (out of state) to have them get FL authorities involved. Wallet Surprisingly appeared but we are still getting accounts trying to open after they both have passed. Unless you can visit everyday your loved ones will be abused and stolen from. Our family will never forget and will always carry the burdens of not removing them before they became to ill to move.

I was considering this nursing home to place a loved one. When I stopped by to see the facility and request a tour on 6/23/2022 (unannounced as recommended by friends in the profession), I was told I could not see the areas where residents reside because “one of the residents was recently diagnosed with COVID.” No other facilities denied me a tour (masked, of course) and this was a huge red flag to me as well as my friends in the profession. Could I not visit my loved one if I placed them there? Why wouldn’t they show me where they “kept” residents? That was a deal breaker for me and I would not place anyone there.

My sister has been there for 18 months. The staff has always been very accommodating and for the most part kind. They have a very challenging job that requires a lot of patience and compassion. They take many precautions to keep the spread of Covid down. The facility and grounds would definitely benefit from some TLC. To be honest, no one wants to have to live in a nursing home, I feel that the staff at Beneva Lakes do the best they can in such a difficult situation. The administrative staff have been very compassionate and helpful in guiding us through all of the complicated issues we continually encounter.
