Benchmark at Split Rock was very nice. The lady we talked to was excellent and very informative. We looked at both assisted living and memory care. Everything seemed good. They sent us home with some sandwiches, and they tasted fine.

Benchmark at Split Rock was fairly new. I just wasn't crazy about the location of the facility because there were shops and stores in the area and it's behind Outback. I also felt like it was smaller in size and the views from the room, I didn't think they offered as much as the other place did. They had a bistro and a smaller dining room. They offer music, and they had a piano there. They had a room where they could do chair yoga and activities and they could have ceramics or cooking. They had a nice room that was just a kitchen and it had a stovetop and oven. If you wanted to bring your family there and cook a meal, you could. The rooms seemed smaller, but they were furnished. I just didn't like that they only had a twin bed and the bed didn't go up or down like at the other place. They didn't have extra space for towels. It was almost like an open cabinet. One thing that they did that I thought was very nice was when I wrapped my tour which was at 10:00 in the morning, they gave me a bag lunch to go. They gave me a sandwich, a dessert, and bottled water. I thought that was a nice touch. They just didn't have much of a property in the front for the residents to enjoy.

I visited Benchmark at Split Rock. I thought it was just a little bit overcrowded. The food, the menus, and everything else was good. They have entertainment. When I walked in there, they had a guy singing. It seemed like they had a lot of people that were interacting, so that was good. The room was tiny, really small, and the price was very, very expensive. I think it was $13,700 a month. I don't know where they come up with the prices. I mean, it was such a small room. The reason why it's called Split Rock, it's because when you look out the window there's a cliff staring at you in the face. It wouldn't be my first choice to put my mother, that's for sure. The lady I talked to, she was in the management area, she was very helpful, and she walked me through everything. Information wise, it was great; I learned a lot. All I saw was the menu. I really didn't know about the food too much. The menu was very extensive, so that looked good and everything.
