Avalon Memory Care - Mystic Park was nice and very inclusive. The room we saw was a little larger. Someone just moved out, so it wasn't cleaned up yet. The person who gave me the tour was named Autumn. She was very helpful and very knowledgeable. She had been there for a long time. Everyone was very nice and seemed to be pretty skilled at what they were doing. They had a nice kitchen and a dining area. They had bingo. When we were there, they had somebody come by with exotic animals, which they all seemed to enjoy a lot. They had a park across the way. They take them over there, as long as they ask permission. They do certain activities.

My mom is in Avalon Memory Care, it's a wonderful place. It's secure, which was our biggest problem because the last place we had her at was not, so she kept escaping it. She's doing well. I couldn't ask for a better place. It's very homey, the people are just as nice and sweet and kind. The support people they have there for her versus the number of patients, it's really good. It's a great place, especially for a difficult placement, and my mom was a very difficult placement because she's very aggressive. They are absolutely fantastic, their director is wonderful and knowledgeable, she's just amazing. I haven't eaten well but my mom is eating really well and seems to love it. My mom likes to paint and they have a lot of crafts, musicians that come in and sing and play music, and they have activities that are the types of things that she enjoys. I've seen her smile for the first time in years while doing the crafts and the activities that they've set up for them. She comes out of her room, while the last time we had her, we couldn't even get her out of her room. She interacts now and joins the rest of the patients and residents. And it's just a world of difference. Her room is great, I was tempted to move in myself and just let her stay here. The rooms are beautiful, they're not antiseptic or hospital type. They're very warm and they feel homey, they don't look like a facility. They look like an actual residential living space. They have great, big, beautiful bathrooms and lots of closet space. They're very nicely decorated, and a very nice space that's good sized. I have yet to find a single thing I can complain about, they have been amazing. It's a secure memory care facility, it's not huge, and they only have 23 spaces there. They're familiar with the more difficult dementia-like Parkinson's. They know how to handle them and know how to deal with them to keep them happy and comfortable. They have done an amazing job, she's happy, she's calm, she's never going to be herself again, but she's not a danger to herself or anybody else anymore and she's not miserable.

The way the staff interact with family members is great, they are very accommodating and flexible with family visits and just all around easy to work with. I would recommend them to others looking....

The staff is very nice and friendly! The employees care a lot about their job and they are very consistent with giving me updates on my father since I live out of state and I cannot personally be there every day to see him. They take the time to send me photos and videos of him and it means the world to me. I appreciate knowing that my father is in very good and capable hands at Avalon memory care in Mystic park!
