As next of kin, hcp and poa, i am very involved in my aunt’s care. I am so glad that i chose atria shaker and their life guidance unit. All of her needs, are met by karen and her professional and caring staff. My family and i are so thankful for the kindness and effective care given by angela on the day shift. We call her aunt’s angel, and indeed she fills that role. People with dementia and alz. Present unique challenges and she always rises to the occasion. – del, family memberatria shaker my mom and dad moved into the atria shaker last october and were there for almost a year. Unfortunately, my dad fell and had to move to a nursing home. We moved my mom to the life guidance unit at the atria until she, too, moved to the nursing home where my dad is. I wanted to let you know that the care and attention my parents received at the atria were outstanding. I wish they were still there. I never worried about them not being attended to and i knew they were in a safe environment with a very caring staff. Every staff member i met, and i’m pretty sure i met all of them, were sincere and dedicated to their job. It’s important to me that i relay this to you because you should be very proud of your team there. – jayne ferro, former residenti would choose to live here. I liked it so much, i would choose it for myself, if i could stay in the albany area. I’ve been very sick and need assisted living, but i have to move to where my family is, and they live out of the area. I liked that i was there around 4 pm, and lots of people were hanging out in the lobby. They had sing-alongs, bible studies and a shuffleboard court in the back. I liked a lot of the other activities they offered, too. They’ll let you keep a cat – i have one. The rooms are small, but i have seen smaller on the assisted living circuit. I’d live here, because it seemed like a happy atmosphere, with the kind of activities i would like. – weejee4, toured communitysurpasses all expectations! Outstanding Assisted Living for my brother until he required skilled nursing. ALL the staff became extended family. Administrators were always available for me. The food great. The care wonderful. When my brother moved from independent to memory care, the transition was seamless and staff wonderful. The day he had to move to another facility for skilled nursing was difficult for me and good byes were hard....these folks really care and i''d grown fond of them all. I will miss them. Don''t hesitate to have your loved one move here...you won''t be sorry.

I'm struck by the fact that it was very clean and not shabby at all, but it was refreshed, so that was an immediate impression. The tour person, Katie, was very personable. She spoke fast, but we're the kind of people that can take in information fast. The style of communication was easy to follow for us, but not necessarily for older folks. Nevertheless, I'm happy with what I saw of the staff. They seemed very caring. I was also impressed with the food situation, and it looked like a lot of healthy variety of food was available to them. I also like the fact that my parents would be able to spend as much time together as they wanted to. Although my mother would be in memory care and my dad would have a studio apartment, they could still any time visit each other and of course eat meals together, so that was important to us. The staff seemed hands-on, knowledgeable, and warm. They showed us two units, a studio where my dad would be staying because he has no physical or memory issues whatsoever, and my mom's situation in memory care. It would become very, very apparent that she's got to have 24-hour care. They cannot be in the same apartment, which we wanted to have happen, but it wasn't going to be an option.

The apartments were very nicely laid out, and the bathrooms were roomy, and big enough for a wheelchair. They were light, color-wise, which meant a lot to the residents. It's kind of cheery. They had kitchenettes. They looked very well laid out. The dining room looked like a restaurant. It was very well laid out and very inviting as was the combination library and living room. I can't think of anything bad. The person who gave us the tour was extremely nice. Other than having to climb the hill from the boulevard, it was very nice. The building itself was well laid out and roomy.

I liked the shared rooms at Peregrine Senior Living at Shaker. I liked that it seemed like it was a smaller facility, so it could give greater attention to memory care residents. The staff were very nice, very, very gracious, and very helpful. Of all of the facilities I visited, I think this was the best one. They showed me the facility for memory care residents where they had them sit down and give them some work activities like segregating buttons by color or size or things like that, something that helps them to exercise their minds. I thought that was an excellent idea. The facilities in general were very beautiful.
