The director [name removed] is just a sweetheart, everyone from the front desk receptionist to the nurses to the maintenance team and just the day to day staff that handles our loved ones care is just amazing. Everyone is overly friendly and accommodating. Our loved one does not have any complaints regarding the meals and from what we can see of the activities calendar the activities look fantastic. It has been an awesome experience, we want to go there when we are older and we would recommend to other families. Only complaint - which is out of their hands but due to covid we have to schedule appointments to come see our loved one and we would love to just come and go as we please.

My husband and I were hoping to retire in Asheville and were looking for suitable assisted living for my dad. We had just begun our journey and had no luck with our first day of tours. Arbor Terrace was our first tour on our second day and there are really no words to describe how well we were assisted by the long-time director of Arbor Terrace, Susan Fairbairn. She sat down with us and made sure my dad was comfortable, and respectfully and gently lead us through a conversation to assure she understood Dads disability fully. She listed so carefully and responded so thoughtfully and ultimately helped educate us on a subject we felt we understood pretty well- but we didn’t! It turns out Arbor Terrace was not going to be able to meet my dad’s needs due to the unpredictable progression of his condition. She listed a few places we may want to think about as alternatives and zeroed in on one place in particular she felt really suited us. We ended up being able to tour that facility and it was indeed absolutely perfect for dad. What this showed me about Arbor Terrace is that they are far more interested in what is best for you and your loved one than they are the business bottom line. The staff and leadership at Arbor Terrace are absolutely unmatched. We all three felt compelled to give Susan big hugs as we left for saving us what could have been months of searching, or worse, having to move dad from Arbor Terrace (or another facility) soon after moving him in and him becoming acclimated and comfortable. We will always feel grateful that Susan came into our lives that day!

Arbor Terrace has been home for my mother for the past year. No one wants to give up their family home, and my mother had to move in after losing her husband of 53 years. It was a really hard beginning. Arbor Terrace staff were great from the start. They allowed compassionate visits during restricted visitation limits because of Covid, as my sister and I got my mother settled. They quickly adopted Mom. Susan, the Director, sat with Mom and soothed her as she grieved. Several staff kept a special eye on her, not only helping in day-to-day care, but identifying when Mom needed medical care and was unable to verbalize that herself. Staff joked with Mom and made her feel at home. They took time to talk with her; more than once, I arrived to find them chatting, looking at pictures with her, checking in on her. The place itself is clean, and has a homey feel, along with lovely gardens. There were a range of top-notch activities. Even during Covid, they worked to find ways to engage residents and help them connect. They encouraged Mom to participate, and some activities even seemed designed for her — her birthday is close to Elvis’s and he is her favorite musician. She was delighted when they had an Elvis birthday party this year. My sister and I did look at assisted living facilities before Mom needed to move in. (I highly recommend doing this if possible.) Arbor Terrace stood out when we looked, and they lived up to the promise.
